Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The NCCU School of Education offers undergraduate, graduate, licensure and professional development programs to train students to become teachers, principals, counselors, as well as serve as mentors to community schools. The School offers traditional, classroom-based instruction as well as instruction via the Internet and teleconferencing. Faculty and staff bring diverse knowledge and experience, provide students with a unique learning experience; teach in small classroom size for easier access to each other and their instructors, and employ the latest technology.
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction is located in the School of Education. It houses undergraduate and graduate programs that prepare professional PK-12 educators for licensure and success in school settings. Programs include early childhood education, elementary education, middle grades education, educational technology, instructional design, special education, and school administration.
Primary Purpose of Position
Teaching campus and online classes in the Educational Technology and Instructional Design graduate programs, student advisement, supervision of practicum and field experiences, participation in school, university and professional service, and scholarly activities.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Candidates will possess an earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution. Candidates must demonstrate potential for effective teaching in Educational Technology and/or Instructional Design; research and service; and activity in appropriate professional organizations and/or societies. Strong interpersonal skills, strong identity as educational technology/instructional design educator, and excellent organizational and communication skills are expected.
Minimum Education/Experience
Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Completed Ph.D. or equivalent in Educational Technology or Instructional Design (or closely related discipline) by position start date (ABD may be considered).
  • Demonstrated record of or strong potential for achievement in teaching, academic research, and service commensurate with experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with others.
  • Experience working with a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Relevant licensure and credentials in Educational Technology and Instructional Design.
