Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Critical Care

University of Minnesota Physicians is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant to join our Critical Care service.

In This Role You Will:

  • Provide inpatient care for critically ill patients in a hybrid role between an intensive care unit and as a critical response provider.

  • While working on the Critical Care system APP team you will get a variety of experiences.

  • We are actively recruiting for the East Bank SICU and CTICU, with a component of Fairview Southdale ICU. However, there is a potential to float between ICU services (includingMICU and West Bank ICU).

  • There is a strong interdisciplinary culture on all the critical care services whether they are at the teaching hospital or one of the non-teaching services. In either environment you will be working closely with academic Critical Care physicians and an experienced group of Advanced Practice Providers, caring for patients with a diverse range of urgent and emergent needs.

  • Manage complex surgical and cardiothoracic critically ill patients with collaboration from the interdisciplinary team.

  • Manage VA-ECMO, VV-ECMO, Impella, IABP, LVAD, and RVAD.

  • Lead Code Blue and Stroke Code

  • Responds to sepsis alerts and treats per protocol

  • Use closed loop communication in all things

  • Manage and perform simulation codes for variety of staff and environments.

Your Schedule:

  • Primarily 10-12 hour shifts, will be required to work both day (approximately 70%) and night shifts(approximately 30%).

We are Looking for a PA or NP Who Is:

  • A graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or formal Adult Nurse Practitioner training program.

  • Eligible to be certified or is certified through NCCPA, ANCC or AANP.

  • Licensed or eligible to obtain a license and prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Medical Practice (PAs) or MN APRN license with prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Nursing (NPs).

  • Able to meet thresholdcriteria/qualificationsfor credentialing and privileges.

  • Have strong knowledge of dual diagnosis mental health and medical conditions.

  • Willingness to obtain privileges in relevant procedures.

  • Have patience, motivation and determination to provide best critical care possible no matter the environment

What Could Set You Apart:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as an inpatient PA or NP, preferably as a Hospitalist or Critical Care provider. New graduates with 5+ years inpatient critical care experience as an RN will be considered.

The full-time salary range is $130,002 - $164,797 commensurate with practice experience and may also include incentive compensation or additional specialty-specific compensation components. Salary prorated based on FTE.
