Responsibilities

New York Institute of Technology's -deSeversky Mansion seeks part-time Servers to Offer exceptional service to all our guests and ensure they have a great experience when dining and meeting at the mansion as well as support the Dining Room Manager and team in all dining service areas.

Server's responsibilities include but not limited to:

    Provide attentive and efficient table service to guests creating a memorable dining experience by means of maintaining proper dining etiquette including but not limited to: menu descriptions, order taking, beverage service, delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses.
  • Represent the university in the most upstanding way possible
  • Communicate to staff in a respectful manner at all times.
  • Prepare rooms for clients utilizing floor plans.
  • Maintain flow of function via the use of issued work plans created by supervisors.
  • Be on the floor 100% of the time during a meal service period to oversee, but not limited to tables assigned by captain.
  • Maintain open communication with the dining room captain, service team and kitchen regarding any allergies or special needs
  • Identify any guests that have consumed an excessive amount of alcohol to management and captains to be cut off.
  • Any fruit and dessert cakes left at the end of the event are to be wrapped and sent to outside refrigerator for Campus Dining.
  • Ensure proper use, storage and maintenance of all catering related equipment. Storage cabinets are to be cleaned and maintained weekly.
  • Maintain all equipment that pertains to the service areas such as linens, chafing and serving dishes, glassware, and flatware through Standard Operating Procedures and training.
  • All props, tables and linens not being used for the next event setup are to be returned to its designated storage area.
  • Coffee urns need to be cleaned with urnex weekly on the last day of the week.
  • Each room is to be setup appropriately according to floor plans and only shut down with the captains and/or managements approval.
  • When moving chairs, tables, furniture and glass racks from one room to another, furniture and walls need to be respected
  • Communicate departmental needs, items in need of repair, guest's complaints or other deficiencies to the dining room captain.
  • Maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness in all areas of the mansion
  • Participate in line ups to communicate special details required for the event.
  • Follow opening/closing procedures and checklists.
  • Attend all training and development programs as scheduled.
  • Follow policies on grooming, appearance and professionalism standards on a consistent basis.
  • Understand and communicate house history, summary of products and services we offer.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Qualifications

Has a positive and professional demeanor and works well within a team setting.

Possesses reliable transportation.

Must be able to speak English fluently and exercise excellent communication and listening skills.

Varying schedule that may include weekends, holidays and 9 hour shifts as business dictates.

Ability to work in a fast past environment.

Stand and walk for long periods of times.

Able to lift a manage trays of food and glasses with weights at times exceeding 25lbs

Occasionally lifts items up to 50lbs.

Must be willing to work in both indoor and outdoor settings where varying weather and temperature conditions can be expected.

May work near or with machinery that can reach temperatures exceeding 165 degrees (i.e. Dishwasher/coffee machine).

In compliance with local legislation as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, the annual base salary range for this position is listed. New York Tech considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience/expertise, education/training, key skills, geographic location, internal peer equity as well as market, organizational considerations and/or applicable collective bargaining agreement when extending an offer.



Minimum Salary

USD $20.00/Hr.

USD $24.00/Hr.
