Position Overview:

Under the immediate supervision of the Principal or a designee, elective teachers provide instruction that promotes and develops both skills and an appreciation for the arts and world languages for the 2024-2025 school year.

Elective teachers will create an atmosphere that fosters active student participation in the learning process. Instruction should be balanced, giving students an equal opportunity to learn about major milestones, people, and artifacts throughout history as well as practice those skills through project-based learning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implementing curricula and activities to meet academic standards and push the rigor of the content. Lesson plan, assess, instruct, monitor, and report student progress for the course.
  • Driving academic outcomes by analyzing scholar work and data and implementing high leverage instructional moves to ensure dramatic gains for all scholars.
  • Developing strong relationships with parents and scholars, creating investment in school culture and academics. Participating in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions
  • Designing assessments that measure progress towards academic standards. Using assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices.
  • Collaborating with grade level teachers to create consistent structures and systems for your shared cohort of scholars.
  • Serving as an advisor to a small group of scholars.
  • Maintain and submit necessary records, progress reports, and grade reports. Provide final grades and progress reports to administration, as necessary.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, workshops, staff development programs, and other school sponsored activities. Participate in professional learning by attending seminars and workshops to improve instructional practice and positively affect student achievement.
  • Assist in general building supervision and discipline of students outside of the classroom.
  • Adhere to the professional and ethical standards as outlined in the SEED PCS Staff Handbook.



Qualifications:

  • Bachelors' degree in related field.
  • Experience working in Urban Education
  • Praxis II passing score required in the content area.
  • Masters in related fields and/or prior teaching experience are highly desired.
  • Knowledge of K-12 teaching standards and frameworks.
  • A love for working with young people.
  • A commitment to a diverse and inclusive community.
  • A passion for teaching in an innovative, experiential, and student-centered environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with students, parents, faculty, and staff.
  • Personal qualities including resilience, approachability, and kindness.
  • Excellent technology skills and experience integrating technology into the curriculum.
