Reports to: Senior Director of Finance

Supervises: AP/AR Manager

Status: Exempt (Salary), Full-Time, Management

Location: Arlington Headquarters 2116 Arlington Ave., Suite 100, Los Angeles, CA 90018

SUMMARY

The Senior Accounting Manager is a service minded professional and part of the Finance Department who is responsible for supporting and supervising various aspects of accounting functions at The People Concern. This position will serve as the manager of the AP/AR Manager, and will assist in monitoring, preparing and or performing general ledger entries, month end close activities, reviewing balance sheet accounts, grant income and expense statement reviews for proper coding and classification. The Senior Accounting Manager will lead the coordination of various accounting functions in a systematic and organized fashion.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Oversee the AP/AR manager and maintain quality controls associated with the AP/AR process including credit card management systems.

2. Knowledge of the full cycle of accounts payable/receivable process and responsible to monitor the data integrity and management activities.

3. Assist in the management of month end closing activities.

4. Monitor the closing of subsystems and journal postings in the GL of accounts payable, accounts receivable, deposits, payroll.

5. Maintain GL by making recurring, ordinary or correcting journal entries in accordance with GAAP, FASB and agency policies and procedures.

6. Perform and manage reconciliation of balance sheet asset and liability accounts.

7. Perform maintenance and recording of fixed assets and equipment, including additions, deletions, depreciation and dispositions.

8. Assist in the management and performance of data entry accuracy of government contracts and private grants income and expenses.

9. Assist in the preparation and management of contract and grant audits.

10. Assist in the development of and implementation of accounting procedures; including recommending changes.

11. Assist in the preparation and distribution of internal and external financial statements.

12. Monitor cost allocation schedules and work with fiscal grants management team with updating allocation methodologies and data that drives budget performance.

13. Perform cash management activities.

14. Prepare reports that analyze the performance of receivable accounts.

15. Develop, prepare and maintain reports and analyses for management that support preparation of financial statements, expense tracking and internal control management.

16. Perform and assist in the management of bank reconciliations.

17. Stay abreast of government regulations and assist with preparation and coordination of audits and annual tax filings.

18. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred; CPA license preferred.

2. 3-5 years of experience working in a Finance Department in a supervisory role with a team of 4+ members and understanding accounting standards and principles.

3. Accounting management experience which includes GL, AP, AR functions.

4. 3+ years' experience performing non-profit accounting

5. Experience with multiple non-profit accounting software, and preference for Quickbooks Enterprise.

6. Ability to perform mathematical and data processing tasks rapidly and accurately.

7. Ability to understand cost allocations and government grant requirements.

8. Knowledge of GAAP and financial systems best practices.

9. Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Software (Outlook, Work and Excel).

10. A self-starter, with ability to coordinate multiple projects/tasks at once.

11. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills.

12. Possess problem solving and conflict resolution skills and exercises professional judgement.

13. Flexible, adaptable, and capable of working in a fast paced, professional environment.

14. Maintain and execute confidential information using HIPAA standards

15. Covid-19 vaccinated and boosted or with a medical/religious exemption

WORK ENVIRONMENT

1. Office environment

2. Regularly required to sit, stand, bend; occasionally lift or carry up to 25 lbs.

3. On occasion walk or drive to different agency sites

4. May necessitate working in busy and loud environments

5. May be exposed to elements like cold, heat, dust, noise and odor

6. May need to bend, stoop, twist, and sit throughout the day
