Job purpose

RHD Glassport LTSR is a long-term structured residential program serving eligible adult males between the ages 18 to 65. Program residents are diagnosed with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorder. Residents also have a forensic history.

Psychiatric rehabilitation is the process of restoring community functioning and well-being to an individual diagnosed with a mental health or emotional disorder. Psych rehab workers (PRW) assist program residents with acquiring skills to support a successful transition from the LTSR to the community by incorporating psychiatric rehabilitation through modeling, practicing, and teaching of life skills.

PT and prn positions available for overnight shift (11p-7a) Friday - Monday primarily.

Duties and responsibilities

Overnight shift maintains the cleanliness of the LTSR by completing housekeeping tasks.

Overnight staff complete hourly resident bed checks and provide crisis intervention and/or supportive services to LTSR residents as needed.

This position is entry level, working with male residents with mental health needs in a residential setting. The incumbent will provide direct supervision of program residents, monitor resident psych rehab activities, assist with community reintegration activities - including monitoring community outings, linking residents to medical appointments to promotes the principles of mental health recovery and psychiatric rehabilitation.

  1. Assist program residents with completing activities of daily living - cooking, cleaning, laundry and other life skills
  2. Support residents' individual treatment goals through practicing, modeling and teaching.
  3. Facilitate daily psych rehab group activities for program residents
  4. Document daily shift notes and group notes within the electronic medical record system.
  5. Complete all other assigned tasks as designated by Psych Rehab Specialist and program leadership
  6. Overnight duties include resident bed checks and housekeeping tasks within the facility.

Maintain Compliance with Funding and Licensing Entities Related to Service Delivery

  • Complete Documentation of Quality Service Delivery daily.
  • Attend all training as required by regulations and as desired for professional development.
  • Participate in Supervision monthly

Complete all other assigned tasks as designated by the Team Lead and/or program leadership.

Qualifications

12 semester hours of college training in a mental health related field or

A high school diploma or equivalency and 6 months of formal training in mental health or a related field

OR

  • Bachelor Degree (preferred)
  • CPRP (preferred)

Knowledge/Skills

  • Knowledgeable of recovery principles and tools.
  • Knowledgeable of psychiatric rehabilitation.
  • Able to communicate in a written or verbal format.
  • Able to document daily activities and recovery goals.
  • Able to role model recovery and hope.
  • Able to hear anecdotal information and reframe in the context of facts and data in an emphatic manner.
  • Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Able to manage mobile technology independently.
  • Able to support and implement RHD and unit values and beliefs.

Other Requirements/Certifications

  • State police clearance
  • FBI clearance is required
  • Medical clearance as required by funder

  • Light: exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. The use of arm and/or leg control requires force greater than sedentary, but worker still sits majority of time.

The Psychiatric Rehabilitation Workers are supervised by the Team Leads.
