Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP is currently seeking a talented Trusts & Estates paralegal to join the Firm's Charlotte, NC office. The position requires an understanding of and experience in the field of estate planning and/or estate administration as well as experience drafting estate planning documents and probate forms, including accountings, required by the probate court preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Meet with clients, trustees and family members and communicate with beneficiaries
  • Draft standard and complex estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, irrevocable trust agreements, trust resolutions and operating agreements and partnership agreements for investment partnerships. Strong consideration given to candidates proficient with document drafting software systems.
  • Prepare deeds, asset spreadsheets and probate pleadings
  • Organize and analyze asset information
  • Prepare inventories, asset allocation agreements and asset transfer documents
  • Prepare federal estate tax returns and gift tax returns
  • Read and interpret wills and trust instruments
  • Prepare and file all documents required to probate wills
  • Prepare receipt and release agreements, disclaimers, affidavits, accounting petitions
  • Ensure proper indexing and filing of original documents
  • Review bank statements; notarize documents; and organize and maintain client files
  • Assist with special projects as needed


REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Five to ten years related experience in a mid or large-sized law firm preferred
  • Excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong project management skills with attention to detail and deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize project requirements
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with a client service focus
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of Probate process and rules, use of judicial council forms
