Supply Chain - Contract Specialist I

Position Description:

This position supports cost optimization through validation of contract compliance in vendor billing. Facilitates patient billing by ensuring contractual requirements are met and that the billing office has the required item numbers and pricing. Supports clinical areas with minimal levels of supply chain complexities.

Duties:

  • Reviews vendor invoicing of surgical items such as implants to ensure that vendors comply with UHS negotiated contract prices and items.
  • Works with local vendor representative to resolve pricing discrepancies and items that are not under contract. Escalates issues that cannot be resolved with local vendor representative to UHS and vendor Corporate departments.
  • Creates requisitions for disposable product orders received from departments. Ensures unit of measures and pricings are correct and that quantities are not unusually high. Approves and sends for next level of authorization.
  • Assists the billing office with supply pricing and item number information needed to bill the patient and their insurance company.
  • May do monthly reporting on high value items orders that have not yet been issued an PO to assist department with monthly expense accruals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • High School or equivalent required.
  • 3-5 years of supply chain analysis experience.
  • Healthcare supply chain experience preferred.
  • Projects a positive attitude, demonstrated teamwork competencies, and a strong work ethic.
  • Capacity to identify and resolve pricing and contract validity issues.
  • Clinical understanding and ability to support large entities and/or a large number of entities.
  • Focused attention to detail
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Ability to use supply chain applications Enterprise Contract Management System (ECM), ECRI, Citrix, and Meperia Strategic Sourcing (MSS).
