Job Summary
The Capital Project Engineer will support the planning and execution of capital projects at a manufacturing plant, helping coordinate projects from initial scope development through implementation and completion. This role will work closely with plant leadership, engineering, maintenance, operations, contractors, and other stakeholders to manage project activities, resolve issues, and keep projects moving forward. The ideal candidate has strong technical aptitude, engineering knowledge, and the ability to coordinate multiple project activities in an industrial environment.

Job Responsibilities



  • Support capital projects throughout the project lifecycle, including scope development, planning, design review, implementation, and closeout.
  • Coordinate project activities across engineering, maintenance, operations, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop, review, and update AutoCAD drawings to support project planning, equipment layouts, and implementation.
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of plant infrastructure projects involving mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
  • Participate in site walks, equipment layout reviews, installation planning, and field coordination activities.
  • Track project schedules, documentation, action items, and progress to ensure key activities remain on schedule.
  • Identify project issues, coordinate resolutions, and communicate status and potential impacts to plant and engineering leadership.
  • Support contractor coordination and project execution activities to ensure work is completed safely and according to project requirements.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, reports, drawings, and records.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to ensure project solutions support plant requirements and operational needs.
  • Help manage multiple project activities and competing priorities throughout the project lifecycle.


Job Requirements



  • Previous experience supporting capital projects, engineering projects, or project execution in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to understand engineering concepts, drawings, equipment layouts, and plant infrastructure.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems within a plant or industrial environment.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple project activities and stakeholders from planning through implementation.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, communication, and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with plant leadership, engineering, maintenance, operations, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with industrial safety standards and project execution practices preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing or industrial environment.


Education



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, including Industrial, Mechanical, Civil, or a related engineering discipline, required.
