Position Summary

The Buyer & Planner is responsible for purchasing, material planning, and supplier management to support production and customer delivery requirements. This role partners across the organization and with suppliers to optimize cost, quality, inventory, and delivery performance.

This role is full-time and onsite at our STERIS HQ in Mentor, Ohio. Up to 15-25% domestic travel.

What You Will Do As a Buyer/Planner II
  • Manage purchase orders and material requirements, expediting as needed to support customer delivery.
  • Develop short- and long-term purchasing plans with cross-functional leadership.
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage suppliers, including negotiations for pricing, delivery, service, and payment terms.
  • Monitor supplier performance, financial health, and risk.
  • Support new product initiatives through supplier recommendations and sourcing activities.
  • Optimize inventory through effective replenishment methods, lead times, and order quantities.
  • Maintain accurate supplier and item information within MRP systems.
  • Partner with Accounts Payable, Receiving, and other teams to resolve issues and maintain material flow.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities related to cost, quality, inventory, and delivery.
The Experience, Skills, and Abilities Needed
  • High school diploma or equivalent and13 years of planning/supply chain experience
  • Knowledge of MRP and master planning
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Preferred Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain or related field with 3 years of procurement experience and 2 years of MRP/planning experience strongly preferred
  • Lean manufacturing experience
  • Oracle experience is a plus
  • APICS, CPIM, or related supply chain certification

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
