Position Summary

Manage cost optimization and business continuity activities with STERIS at Plymouth Plant. The successful candidate will lead the identification, development, and execution of annual PPV, cost avoidance, and inflation mitigation initiatives. Establish and maintain liaison relationship with Plymouth engineering, quality, regulatory, manufacturing, purchasing, planning, marketing departments, and the supply base to meet cost optimization objectives.

This roles requires onsite work 5 days/week in Plymouth, MN. Working Hours are: Monday - Friday dayshift. This role is not eligible for Visa Sponsorship or H1B Transfer.

What You'll do as a Sourcing Engineer II
  • Develop and maintain a qualified savings funnel to support business margin objectives.
  • Work individually or with cross-functional teams on new and existing products to develop part cost optimization programs. This may be accomplished through techniques such as design analysis, material substitution or standardization, part count reduction, design simplification, manufacturing process simplification or other proven cost optimization techniques.
  • Develop implementation plan for cost optimization, cycle time reduction initiatives with suppliers, and process improvements. Approve new design or recommend modifications based on productivity, cost, and component technology factors.
  • Work closely with suppliers in establishing relationships. Lead supplier value engineering workshops, business reviews, and strategic improvement initiatives focused on cost, quality, delivery, and risk reduction.
  • Analyze product design to determine conformance to design selection criteria, use of standardized parts and equipment, and design-to-cost ratio. Perform design trade-off for cost and manufacturing; make/buy decision involving components to products and processes.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to manager and purchasing staff on spend analysis and PPV data.
  • Interface as a liaison between purchasing and engineering, manufacturing, accounting, and other departments to ensure continuity and effectiveness of addressing cost improvement initiative.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop recovery and resilience plans with critical suppliers to ensure supply chain continuity.
The Experience, Skills, and Abilities Needed

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • 3 + years experience applying engineering skills in product design or operations/manufacturing for electrical/mechanical products.
  • 3+ years experience with demonstrated results in product cost project management or engineering project management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing cost systems and/or cost accounting.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, project management, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, results driven.
  • Experience with 3D CAD, Creo tools and understanding PLM systems (e.g., Windchill).
  • Demonstrated experience deploying Lean, Six Sigma, or other CI methodologies in a manufacturing or supplier environment.

Preferred

  • CPM, APICS, or other supply chain management certification.
  • 3 years of commodities purchasing/ sourcing experience.
  • Experience in supply chain optimization, value stream engineering, or six sigma.

Other

  • Excellent communication, problem solving, project management, organizational and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, results driven.
  • Excellent knowledge of office applications like Excel, Access, PowerPoint), and project management tools.
  • Strong team contributor, comfortable in leading cross functional teams.

Pay range for this opportunity is $86,062.50 - $106,312.50. This position is eligible for bonus participation.

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
