Primary Purpose of Department
The Department of Public Health and Health Administration ( PHHA) is committed to advance health by fostering innovative teaching and learning, generating evidence-based research, and engaging communities in meaningful ways. PHHA's mission is to prepare students and scholars to lead impactful public health initiatives, expand access to quality care, and contribute to healthier outcomes for populations. The Department consists of 30 full-time faculty serving approximately 1,000 undergraduate and 200 graduate students.
The Department of Public Health and Health Administration has extensive ties with local, regional, and global health departments, health care systems, and other community partners. In addition to our CEPH-accredited BSPH, MPH and PhD degree programs; we offer a BS in Health Systems Management, and a CAHME-accredited MHA program; and we collaborate with the School of Data Science in the delivery of an MS in Health Informatics and Analytics. The Department is a member of the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health ( ASPPH) and the Association of University Programs in Health Administration ( AUPHA).The Department houses the Violence Prevention Center and the Charlotte Maternal & Child Health Workgroup, and has strengths in the areas of aging, HIV/sexual health, maternal and child health, mental health, violence prevention, physical activity, food and nutrition, and chronic disease. The Department is housed in the College of Health and Human Services, which also includes the Department of Applied Physiology, Health and Clinical Sciences; the School of Nursing; and the School of Social Work.

Description of Work

Teaching - Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching may include but are not limited to: subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, and grading student work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will contribute to the undergraduate degree program, (teaching, and service).
Minimum Experience/Education
UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned masters and/or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.
Preferred Education, Skills and Experience
Eligible candidates must have a Master degree in Healthcare Administration ( MHA) or similar field by August 2027. Applicants must be eligible for appointment at the rank of lecturer in the Department of Public Health and Health Administration. Full-time lecturer candidates are expected to present evidence of promise for contributing to the Department's teaching and service. Preferred candidates will have a Bachelor degree in a healthcare-related field and/or healthcare administration practice experience. The extent to which the candidate can contribute to the mission and vision of the Department will be considered. Candidates from all areas of health administration and health systems management will be considered. Applicants with teaching experience in quality management, decision analysis, and data analytics are particularly encouraged to apply. We are particularly interested in candidates with undergraduate teaching experience and a demonstrated commitment to public health workforce development.
