| Position Description Summary: |
The Department of Organizational Sciences and Communication (
OSC) at the George Washington University invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Communication to begin as early as Fall 2027. This is a renewable three-year specialized service position that focuses on teaching and service.
OSC is a multidisciplinary department in the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences that offers degree programs in Communication, Organizational Sciences, and Industrial and Organizational Psychology. The Communication program offers a selective undergraduate Communication major, minors in Communication and in Organizational Communication, and a Master's degree in Communication Management. In order to maximize the integrative capabilities of the potential hire, we seek a scholar with a focus on any aspect of communication including, but not limited to, organizational communication, interpersonal communication, strategic communication, corporate and social responsibility, small group, social media, social networks, intercultural communication, and related areas. These are all areas for possible integrative connections with current
OSC faculty in multiple programs that build on current and future strategic objectives

| Specific Duties and Responsibilities: |
We seek an exemplary teacher and teaching mentor who offers the greatest integration and extension of departmental expertise and offerings. The new faculty member will be expected to focus on teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses and take an active leadership role in the administration of the Communication program, such as serving as an under/graduate program director or advisor. The successful applicant would provide continuity and support for our large undergraduate Communication offerings, integrate and extend faculty teaching expertise in areas critical to the Department, and complement existing faculty resources in terms of curricular needs. The successful candidate will teach courses that may include research methods or a senior seminar culminating in a capstone thesis, as well as other courses related to their experience and interests. |
| Minimum Qualifications: |
The successful applicant will have earned a PhD in Communication or a closely related field before starting the position.
ABD candidates will be considered but must complete all doctoral requirements by date of appointment. Applicants must demonstrate teaching excellence as evidenced by teaching evaluations. |

75,000-80,000 |
