Position Summary

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This Team Lead role is a "working lead" position and reports directly to the Value Stream Team Leader/Manager. The lead assists Value Stream leadership with daily activities regarding production to ensure that the plant is meeting safety, quality, delivery and cost goals. The Lead communicates daily, weekly and monthly requirements and expectations within the facility. The Lead will be involved in most of the aspects of running the operations of the shift they are assigned. They will provide valuable feedback to Supervisors and Managers regarding performance of the work stream and the progress of employees within the Value Stream.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Performs Hose Fabrication job functions as needed to ensure the efficient operation of the plant

  2. Perform tasks assigned for efficient start-up and shutdown of each shift

  3. Responds to and resolves quality and technical questions

  4. Communicates order status between customer service and production to ensure customer needs are met Communicates safety, quality and productivity expectations

  5. Conducts in-process inspections; ensures scrap and rework processes are followed

  6. Communicates and solves work flow problems, equipment and staffing needs

  7. Works with purchasing to ensure the availability supply items

  8. Leads and directs HPTs and problem solving efforts in partnership with Leadership

  9. Ensures training, standard work and daily productivity documentation is current

  10. Responsible for DxH checks, overall shift expectation and 5S

  11. Occasional travel required for training and/or best-practice sharing

  12. May be required to work on opposite shift at times to ensure that customer requirements are met

  13. Attendance and punctuality are required; overtime as deemed necessary

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Continue to keep current in skills through training, classes and on the job training

  2. Support and commit to Parker's Code of Ethics, policies and procedures

  3. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education required:

Minimum High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalent required

Experience:

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  1. Demonstrated knowledge of Hose Product assembly, Standard Work, 5S, Lean, and equipment operation and set-up

  2. Basic Machine Operator programming/setup skills preferred
  3. Completion of future training leadership courses
  4. Computer literate
  5. Training experience preferred

Skills/Competencies:

  1. Strong analytical and quantitative skills.

  2. Excellent communication and team building skills

  3. Understand Metrics Related to Business or VS

  4. Be available for OT (with approval) to attend meetings

  5. Transition to different shifts when needed

  6. Able to effectively communicate and deal with conflict appropriately in small or large groups

  7. Excellent interpersonal and teambuilding skills

  8. Strong problem-solving skills

  9. Intermediate computer skills and an aptitude to learn programs such as Excel and PowerPoint

  10. Basic understanding of shop math and measuring skills, including the ability to convert fractions and decimals.

  11. Ability to work well in a team environment.

  • Report directly to the VSTL or Value Stream Manager

  • Work closely with plant and Division colleagues, Parker sales/account managers and customers.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The employee may be subject to:

  • High noise levels from operating machines and equipment.

  • Physical hazards from being around machines and moving items.

  1. Work in areas where safety equipment will be required (steel toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection)

  2. Standing is required for extended periods of time. Walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting is performed on a regular basis

  3. Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions

  4. Requires flexible hours and short notice for overtime
