Job Duties
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial and business transactions.
- Process and maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
- Bill clients accurately and in a timely manner.
- Monitor accounts receivable and ensure payments are received for goods and services.
- Work with other departments to ensure the correct amounts are collected in a timely manner.
- Review accounting processes and identify the need for new or improved controls.
- Analyze and project accounting data to help evaluate the impact of proposed plans on investments, income, cash position, and overall financial condition.
- Help ensure the accounting system provides an accurate foundation for management reporting.
- Perform accurate data entry and maintain financial records.
- Send payment reminders and follow up with clients regarding outstanding accounts.
- Contact clients to discuss account balances, payments, and billing questions.
- File and maintain accounting documentation and paperwork.
- Assist with general administrative and clerical accounting tasks.
- Perform other accounting, purchasing, and related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting is required
- Professional accounting certifications or continuing education are beneficial.
Experience Requirements
- Experience in both Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) required.
- Previous experience in a similar accounting role is required.
- Experience preparing, reviewing, and maintaining financial records and accounting documentation.
- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Experience using accounting software, spreadsheets, and enterprise financial systems.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality while managing sensitive financial information.
- Proven experience in a similar accounting or finance role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent data entry skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain accuracy while handling multiple tasks.
- Ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage time.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in accounting, financial analysis, auditing, budgeting, or corporate finance is preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar accounting software is beneficial.
- Knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, tax preparation, compliance, or internal controls is considered an asset.
- Individuals who demonstrate professionalism, analytical thinking, accuracy, and strong organizational skills are well positioned for success as a Accounting Specialist.
Physical Capabilities
- Ability to remain seated and work at a computer for extended periods.
- Ability to review detailed financial documents and perform accurate data analysis.
- Ability to occasionally lift office materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
