The Sit-Down Clamp Forklift Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently loading, unloading, and transporting products within the warehouse using a sit-down clamp forklift. This role involves handling freight from trailers and shipping containers while ensuring product integrity, maintaining inventory accuracy, and following all safety and operational procedures.

Job Duties



  • A sit-down clamp forklift driver operates a specialized seated industrial truck equipped with hydraulic squeeze clamps instead of traditional forks to lift, transport, and stack bulky or palletized/unpalletized product



Education Requirements



  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous warehouse or powered industrial equipment training is beneficial.



Experience Requirements



  • Experience operating clamp truck equipment or similar powered industrial vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to transport large rolls, pallets, or specialized materials without product damage.
  • Knowledge of warehouse safety procedures, equipment inspections, and load handling practices.
  • Ability to accurately identify inventory, shipping documentation, and warehouse locations.
  • Strong attention to detail, dependable attendance, and commitment to workplace safety.
  • Must be able to use forklifts, pallet jacks.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed, occasional weekends.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend work instructions well.
  • High attention to detail required.
  • Must have the ability to work well with others with little supervision.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Previous warehouse, manufacturing, distribution, logistics, or paper products industry experience is preferred.
  • Experience operating clamp trucks, forklifts, RF scanners, warehouse management systems (WMS), or inventory software is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of inventory control, shipping, receiving, material handling, or Lean warehouse practices is considered an asset.
  • Individuals who demonstrate safe operating practices, productivity, teamwork, and careful material handling are well positioned for success as a Forklift Operator.
  • 6 months -1-year previous forklift experience preferred.
  • Experience using a RF scan gun



Physical Capabilities



  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physically active warehouse work throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds as required.
  • Ability to safely operate powered industrial equipment while maintaining awareness of surrounding warehouse traffic.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced warehouse or manufacturing environments while following established safety procedures.
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time up to hours or more
  • Must be able to lift lbs unassisted
