The Training Coordinator supports manufacturing operations by ensuring employees are effectively onboarded, trained, and qualified to perform their jobs safely and efficiently. This role manages training compliance, maintains training records, coordinates production and safety training, and partners with operations leadership to develop a skilled workforce in a metals manufacturing environment. Job Duties
- Coordinate on-the-job training with supervisors, trainers, and subject matter experts.
- Coordinate and facilitate new hire orientation, onboarding, and site-specific safety and quality training for hourly production employees.
- Ensure employees complete required Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), quality, and operational training requirements.
- Track assessments, certifications, annual refresher training, operator qualifications, and compliance requirements.
- Maintain training matrices and qualification records for production, maintenance, warehouse, and support employees.
- Support training related to machining, metal cutting, powder metal processes, tooling, equipment operation, quality systems, and standard work procedures.
- Generate reports and communicate training completion status to leadership.
- Assist during customer, quality, and regulatory audits by providing accurate training documentation.
- Support cross-training initiatives to increase workforce flexibility and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with Operations, HR, Safety, and Quality teams to identify training needs and close skill gaps.
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Associate degree, technical training, manufacturing coursework, or leadership development training is preferred.
Experience Requirements
- 2 years of experience working in a manufacturing, warehouse, production, or related industrial environment.
- Experience leading employees, coordinating production activities, or providing day-to-day direction to a production team.
- Knowledge of production processes, workplace safety, quality standards, and productivity expectations.
- Strong communication, organizational, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to use basic computer systems, production tracking software, reports, and operational documentation.
- Ability to lead by example, hold team members accountable, and respond effectively to changing production priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more years of manufacturing, warehouse, or production experience is preferred.
- Previous supervisory, team lead, shift lead, or production leadership experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing, 5S, continuous improvement, production metrics, scheduling, or quality systems is beneficial.
- Experience coordinating with maintenance, quality, warehouse, engineering, or other operational departments is considered an asset.
- Individuals who are dependable, proactive, solutions-oriented, and able to motivate a diverse production team are well positioned for success as a Training Coordinator.
Physical Capabilities
- Ability to stand and walk throughout production areas for extended periods during the shift.
- Ability to bend, reach, climb stairs, and move throughout manufacturing or warehouse environments as required.
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to safely work around production machinery, material handling equipment, noise, and other conditions common to manufacturing environments.
- Ability to remain active on the production floor while monitoring employees, equipment, safety, quality, and workflow.
