DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the daily cleanliness and upkeep of park buildings and outdoor areas throughout Cook Forest State Park Complex. Through your work, you will help to ensure safe and pleasant surroundings for all visitors. As a Custodial Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Restroom Cleaning: Clean and disinfect toilets, sinks, showers, floors, and walls in restrooms, bathhouses, and cabins
- Floor And Fixture Care: Scrub, dust, and polish floors, furniture, and fixtures in park buildings
- Waste Removal: Empty garbage cans throughout the park, replace garbage bags, and dispose of waste in dumpsters
- Equipment Operation: Operate a pickup truck or utility vehicle to transport cleaning tools and supplies
- Minor Repairs: Replace light bulbs and carry out simple repairs or report needed fixes to a supervisor
- Grounds Maintenance: Pick up litter along roadways and buildings, maintain turf areas using mowers and trimmers, and clear snow and debris from walkways

- Seasonal, full-time employment without health care benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment in March 2027.
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Hours and days may vary due to seasonal requirements and operational needs.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Additional Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- One or more years of cleaning experience.
