DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

Systemwide Benefits Programs & Strategy manages and creates health benefits strategy and programs that enhance the well-being of our employees and their families. Health & Welfare Benefits is a unit within Benefits Programs & Strategy, part of Systemwide Human Resources.

POSITION SUMMARY

This is a TEMPORARY position within our Temporary Office of the President Staffing (TOPS) program.

As a Benefits Program Analyst 4, you will provide high-level planning, analysis and operational support for the systemwide health and welfare benefit programs for UC faculty, staff, retirees and their dependents.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Primary program responsibilities are for the Health and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts for the Faculty/Staff and Postdoctoral Scholars benefits programs, and oversight of the COBRA continuation coverage program.

  • Additional assignments may include assisting with management of benefits administration projects that span the Health & Welfare Benefits' portfolio.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five years experience in employee benefits program management.

  • Knowledge of Health Flexible Spending Account administration and COBRA law relative to continuation of employment benefits.

  • Ability to work independently, follow through on assignments with general supervision, and meet deadlines in a demanding environment.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and highly-developed interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to analyze complex information and to present benefits information clearly and concisely.

  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to problem-solve client concerns.

  • Knowledge of and ability to apply principles of project management.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of UC employee benefits programs.

  • Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations applicable to large group health and welfare benefit plans.

  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist.

EDUCATION.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience / training.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

This is a fully remote position. The person hired will be required to reside within California.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

The University of California, Office of the President, is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the salary grade for a position. The full salary range shows the growth potential for this position.

PayScale/ budgeted hourly range: $50.10/hour - $71.89/hour. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
