Who We Are

The College of Music, founded in 1920, is recognized as one of the top comprehensive music schools in the country. The College of Music offers seven degree programs in over 28 fields of study, at the bachelor's level through the doctorate. Our dedicated and encouraging community of 550 degree-seeking students, 80 full-time faculty, 20 part-time faculty, and 40 professional, technical and administrative staff produces over 350 performances and numerous guest lectures, masterclasses, and outreach events each year!
The warm and collegial climate of the College of Music as a whole reflects the genuine respect among faculty and staff and the unified goal of providing a nurturing and encouraging environment for the students.
Founded in 1998, the ECM currently supports an undergraduate Music Entrepreneurship Certificate, coursework in career and business planning for musicians, and programming connecting students to entrepreneurial and professional pathways. The College of Music seeks to grow this center's role and reach by expanding it as a hub for career readiness, cross-campus collaboration, and community engagement for music students at every level.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

The ECM Director will be responsible for ECM programming, teach courses that build career readiness and entrepreneurial skills in music students, coordinate the College's internship programs and lead associated experiential learning activities, and guide the long-term vision and growth of the Center's programming and scope. Groundbreaking in its initial mission, the ECM was developed with the intent to equip today's music students with the skills and perspectives they need to build sustainable careers in the arts. Arts entrepreneurship as a field of study focuses on the continuing reinvention of how musicians and artists can thrive in a constantly evolving cultural and economic landscape. As such, the Director will lead the Center's next chapter and help to define this mission in supplementing traditional musical education with the demands of the broader artistic community.
