Summer Internship Program Overview

First Merchants internship opportunities are available in a variety of business areas including Credit Administration, Commercial Banking, Consumer Banking, Treasury Management, Private Wealth, Technology, Human Resources, Marketing, Risk, Operations, and other business functions.

Department Internship Duties & Responsibilities

The Treasury Management Intern will support the Treasury Management Sales team through day-to-day responsibilities, projects, and initiatives that contribute to departmental goals. Responsibilities may include researching client and prospect opportunities, preparing sales and portfolio reviews, supporting pipeline and reporting activities, analyzing treasury management products and services, and assisting with process improvement initiatives. Throughout the internship, they will gain exposure to treasury management sales, relationship management, and commercial banking operations. They will have opportunities to collaborate with cross-functional teams, participate in client-focused projects, and contribute to meaningful initiatives that support departmental goals. The internship is designed to provide hands-on experience while developing key skills in sales support, financial analysis, communication, problem-solving, project management, and professional relationship building.

Below is what you can expect to learn from an internship in our Treasury Management Department at First Merchants Bank:

1. Develop an understanding of Treasury Management products and services and how they help businesses improve cash flow, manage payments, mitigate fraud, and optimize working capital.
2. Gain exposure to the Treasury Management sales process, including prospect research, opportunity identification, client needs assessment, proposal preparation, and pipeline management.
3. Learn how Treasury Management partners with Commercial Banking, Business Banking, Merchant Services, Credit, Operations, and Product teams to deliver comprehensive client solutions.
4. Build skills in data analysis, reporting, project management, communication, and professional relationship management through participation in real-world business initiatives and department projects.
5. Increase knowledge of the commercial banking industry while developing a consultative, client-focused approach to identifying opportunities, solving business challenges, and delivering value to clients.

In addition to the learning objectives, all interns will participate in a coordinated community service project. Interns will have an opportunity to network with Executive and Senior Leadership at our Intern Meet & Greet event and will present a summary of their experience at the conclusion of the internship program.

Required Qualifications

• Be a full-time Bachelor (or higher) degree-seeking student at an accredited college or university.
• Be available to work 40 hours per week from May 17^th- August 6^th, 2027.
• Be authorized to work in the United States.
• Have demonstrated interest in the industry and/or specific area of interest.
• Possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Be able and willing to travel periodically throughout the First Merchants footprint, if applicable.
