About This Role

The Yang Laboratory at Kansas State University is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to conduct interdisciplinary research at the interface of biomedical science, biomaterials, food-as-medicine, and precision health.

The successful candidate will contribute to projects investigating how engineered biomaterials, bioactive compounds, nutrients, and delivery systems interact with biological systems to modulate health and disease. Research will integrate in vivo animal models, mammalian cell culture, and organoid-based models with molecular and cellular analyses.

The postdoctoral fellow will have opportunities to develop independent research directions, publish high-impact research, participate in interdisciplinary collaborations, mentor undergraduate and graduate researchers, and contribute to preparation of manuscripts, presentations, and research proposals.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

* Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in biomedical sciences, molecular and cellular biology, pharmacology, immunology, physiology, bioengineering, biotechnology, microbiology, nutritional sciences, or a closely related discipline.

The degree requirement is necessary to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Extensive hands-on experience with mouse models and in vivo experimental procedures.
* Experience developing or working with organoids, intestinal organoids, primary cells, 3D cell culture, or advanced in vitro models.
* Experience with gastrointestinal biology, immunology, inflammation, metabolic disease, nutrition, microbiome research, or related biomedical areas.
* Experience with flow cytometry or fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS).
* Experience with histology, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, or confocal microscopy.
* Experience with qPCR, Western blotting, ELISA, RNA sequencing, single-cell analysis, or other molecular profiling techniques.
