What Your Job Will Be Like

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Team Lead for the Grounds and Roads organization. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role for overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance of all landscape areas and roadways under their care. This includes maintaining various types of infrastructure such as asphalt and unimproved roadways, parking lots, pedestrian travel-ways, fences, and associated signage. The role also encompasses ground cleanup, grading activities, weed control, maintenance of fire breaks, and ensuring water delivery to underground storage tanks.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Coordinate and assign work that is planned for implementation and complete work in Maximo work control system.
  • Oversee the safety aspects of the structural department and lead the team on improvements and working through safety concerns and programs.
  • Coordinate employee recruitment, selection, training, work assignments, recognition, disciplinary actions, and contribute to performance assessments.
  • Analyze and assess system condition during outages and after hours; and coordinates and directs a response team to make the system operational.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to craft for system operation and necessary repair.
  • Apply specialized knowledge and experience to independently judge work quality, performance, and alignment of results with customer expectations.
  • This role will lead the snow removal efforts and is expected to respond and manage those events.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite 100% of the time.

Salary Range

$102,400 - $168,800

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities related field, or other relevant field, plus five (5) or more years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire

  • Experience to interact effectively with all levels of customers, including building and managing effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge in Facilities department roles.
  • Experience using Maximo.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage and complete multiple programs and projects.
  • Knowledge of relevant Sandia policies and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of customers, including building and managing effective working relationships.
  • Technical operational and repair knowledge of assigned systems.
  • Knowledge of emergency response and restoration of systems.
  • In-depth knowledge, interpretation, and application of all applicable National Building codes and standards.
About Our Team

Grounds and Road Services Team provides preventive and corrective maintenance to all landscape areas and roadways. This team maintains asphalt, unimproved roadways, parking lots, pedestrian travel-ways, fences and associated signs, grounds cleanup, grading activity, weed control, maintains fire breaks and water delivery to under round storage tanks. They are also the primary team for snow removal activities.

Security Clearance

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
