About This Role

This position is focused on conducting research but may include formal instructional responsibilities. The role includes mentored training for the purpose of further increasing research expertise in a specialized area in order to pursue a specific career path.


About Us

The Division of Biology at Kansas State University is composed of a dynamic group of tenure-track, research, and instructional faculty, as well as a large number of postdoctoral research associates, graduate students, and support staff. All of these individuals are essential to accomplish the Division of Biology's mission, to generate and disseminate high-quality biological scientific knowledge through teaching, research, service, and outreach. The research, teaching, and service interests of these individuals, spanning all areas of biological research, teaching and training at the postdoctoral, graduate, and undergraduate levels, as well as service and outreach contributions to the broader scientific community and the public.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • PhD. The degree requirement is necessary to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level. Valid driver's license.
  • Professional experience working with data and statistical analysis
  • Professional experience working with agencies on applied quantitative problems
  • Statistical experience with an array of quantitative procedures (general and generalized linear model procedures, multivariate analyses, machine learning, specialized visualizations)
  • Knowledge of fish ecology theory, fisheries methods, conservation practice
  • Experience communicating with state and federal decisionmakers
  • Demonstrated knowledge of AI large language models
  • Peer reviewed publications



Preferred Qualifications:



  • PhD
  • > 5 years professional experience working with data and statistical analysis
  • > 5 years experience working with agencies on applied quantitative problems
  • Extensive statistical experience with an array of quantitative procedures (general and generalized linear model procedures, multivariate analyses, machine learning, specialized visualizations)
  • Knowledge of fish ecology theory, fisheries methods, conservation practice
  • Extensive experience communicating with state and federal decisionmakers
  • Demonstrated knowledge of AI large language models
  • Substantial record of peer reviewed publications (> 20)
