For over 50 years, the MDTA has provided Maryland's citizens and visitors with safe, secure, and convenient transportation facilities. We are committed to quality and excellence in customer service, and we rely on our organization's values, traditions, and - most importantly - our employees to achieve these goals. Employees in this position receive guidance from a Facility Maintenance Technician IV or other designated official and general supervision from a Facility Maintenance Supervisor I or other designated official. This recruitment will be used to fill vacancies throughout the MDTA in Baltimore City, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Cecil, Harford, Charles, and Prince George's counties. Employees may be required to work rotating shift work, to include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. MDTA employees are offered a generous benefits package including: a minimum of 11 paid holidays, a minimum of 27* days of leave annually (personal, vacation, and sick), access to the State Pension System, deferred compensation plans, excellent health, dental, and vision plans, and more! *May be prorated based upon start date. Additionally, the Facility Maintenance Technician I classification is part of a proficiency progression series. However, during the probationary period, employees will be required to obtain and maintain a valid Class A or B CDL (depending on the equipment operated), along with a valid U.S. DOT Medical Card (or MVA-issued waiver). ANSWER: You will be contacted to interview if you have met the minimum requirements for the position and if there are any current or projected vacancies in the locations you indicated you would like to be considered for.
QUESTION: I've applied but haven't received an interview yet. When will I be interviewed? ANSWER: You will be interviewed if you meet the minimum requirements for the position and there are any current or projected vacancies in the areas you indicated you would like to be considered for. Since this recruitment is for all MDTA facilities, some facilities may not have vacancies at the time of application.
QUESTION: I've interviewed, now what? ANSWER: If you are selected to move forward, you will be contacted and provided with next steps, which may include a background investigation and medical screening through Concentra. Completion of these steps does not guarantee an immediate job offer, as offers are contingent upon vacancy availability in the locations you selected.
QUESTION: I can't make it to/missed my Concentra appointment. What should I do? ANSWER: Contact the Concentra location directly where your appointment was scheduled to be conducted. Also, inform the HR representative who you worked with to schedule your appointment.
QUESTION: I've completed everything and still haven't received a job offer. Should I be concerned? ANSWER: Several factors can affect the timing of a job offer, including:
- Background investigation still in progress
- No current vacancies in the facility locations you selected
- Pending or additional medical evaluations identified during screening
- Staffing or operational needs changing at the facility level
Candidates remain eligible for 6 months and may be contacted when a suitable vacancy becomes available.
QUESTION: How long will I wait for a start date?
ANSWER: This is largely dependent on what facilities have current vacancies and how quickly you complete all the steps of the recruitment process. It is critical that you quickly schedule any fingerprinting or medical screenings and return all paperwork as soon as you can.
