The position will leverage extensive experience in spaceflight hardware development, space life sciences, payload integration and operations, and research aboard the International Space Station and other spaceflight platforms. Who We Are BioServe Space Technologies is a Center within the Ann and HJ Smead Aerospace Engineering Sciences department at CU Boulder. Since its inception in 1987, BioServe has designed, built, and flown hundreds of microgravity life science research experiments and hardware on over 75 spaceflight missions. BioServe has a full suite of spaceflight-certified hardware available for use by its customers and partners. Past partners include pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, Universities, NIH, NASA-funded and other government agency researchers. BioServe is a full-service, turn-key organization that enables its customers and partners to focus solely on research while BioServe manages all other activities required to successfully fly experiments in microgravity. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be Provide technical and strategic guidance to BioServe Space Technologies' research and technology development programs. Contribute to research proposals, publications, and future research opportunities where appropriate and consistent with applicable conflict-of-interest and outside-activity requirements. Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students involved in spaceflight research and hardware development. Support student education through guest lectures, project reviews, and other teaching activities. Participate in technical reviews and provide subject-matter expertise in spaceflight hardware, payload development, space life sciences, and mission implementation. Help strengthen connections between CU Boulder, BioServe, government agencies, academia, and the commercial human spaceflight ecosystem. Contribute to the development of future research opportunities aboard commercial space stations and other emerging spaceflight platforms. Demonstrated 10 years plus experience developing, integrating, and operating spaceflight hardware and scientific payloads within BioServe Space Technologies. Demonstrated 4 years plus experience leading spaceflight research programs within BioServe Space Technologies as Principal Investigator or technical/program lead. Strong knowledge of human spaceflight, space life sciences, and microgravity research. Experience mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. Demonstrated ability to collaborate across academia, government, and the commercial space industry.
