Org Marketing Statement

The Engineering Manager is responsible for executing engineering activities relating to Parker Aerospace Braking Systems Division (BSD) products within the Wheel and Brake department. The Engineering Manager will ensure all department activities are effectively coordinated with other functional departments (Business Development, Manufacturing, Sales, Quality, Purchasing, etc.), as well as with the design engineering groups. Will also provide leadership to the Wheel and Brake engineers. This position will report directly to the Division Manager, Wheel, Brake and Carbon. This role will have direct reports.

Essential Functions

  • Manage assigned team of engineers thru all phases of Wheel and Brake product life cycle including, R&T, B&P, NPI, and Sustaining Support activities
  • Assign goals / monthly tasks and efficiently applies department resources to ensure their timely completion commensurate with project schedules and company business objectives .
  • Department administration which includes performance evaluations, hiring of new employees, employee training and development, disciplinary action, budgeting, etc.
  • Review and approval of wheel and brake engineering deliverables output for accuracy and correctness including but not limited to specifications, reports, engineering investigations, calculations and failure analyses

  • Establish and maintain procedures and documentation compliant with BSD QMS (which is AS9100 compliant).

  • Prioritize and direct daily department activities to ensure effective and efficient completion of department objectives.

  • Directing appropriate updates of engineering projects and work with the engineers in the Wheel and Brake department.

  • Support other engineering groups as needed.

  • Continuous improvement of processes, practices and procedures used within the Wheel and Brake organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree (required), preferably in Engineering or a related technical discipline

  • 7+ years engineering experience, aerospace or automotive experience preferred

  • 3+ years of engineering management preferred

  • APQP experience preferred

  • GT&D experience preferred

  • Good planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision-making, problem-solving, oral, and written communication skills

  • Experience in customer-facing role beneficial

  • Extensive knowledge of PCs in the current company operating system environment, including full proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Power Point. Advanced Excel skills are beneficial.

  • Knowledge of SAP, Salesforce (or comparable CRM tool), MS Project, MS Power BI, and MS SharePoint beneficial but not required

  • Continuous improvement (CI), Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), and regulatory audit experience beneficial but not required
