What You'll Do

As a Orthopedic Technologist, you will:




  • Applies and removes cast, splints, and immobilization devices using appropriate materials, techniques, and safety protocols.

  • Applies and removes skin, skeletal, and manual traction in accordance with physician instructions and clinical best practices.
  • Measures, fits, adjusts, and educates patients on orthopedic bracing and durable medical equipment (DME), including device care, activity precautions, and postapplication expectations.

  • Implements treatment plan and plan of care, providing follow-up services to ensure proper fit and patient comfort, within scope limitations.

  • Provides excellent patient care and customer service that reflects Breg's values and commitment to highquality patient care.

  • Collects, verifies, and enters patient demographics, required claim and clinical documentation, authorizations, and signatures before or immediately after orthotic device fittings, ensuring patient charts are complete, accurate, and entered into the system to support compliant, timely billing.

  • Accurately records materials used, devices applied, and any adjustments made.

  • Maintains inventory of casting supplies, bracing, and orthopedic equipment for assigned facility locations, ensuring adequate stock and timely replenishment.

  • Identifies opportunities for process improvements related to workflow, patient care, or inventory management.

  • Develops and maintains effective professional relationships with physicians, clinical partners, patients, and cross-functional internal teams.

  • Performs a variety of administrative and claims support functions, including paper claim scanning, queue management, mail handling, overnight shipping, faxing, copying, filing, supply management, and general correspondence to support efficient office operations.

  • Adheres to all Breg policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and applicable healthcare regulations, including safety standards, devicerelated documentation protocols, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requirements.

  • Responsible for behaving in a professional manner both internally and externally in relationships that positively impact the company's reputation and comply with the company's policies and practices. Responsible for being accountable and committed to demonstrating Breg's cultural beliefs and achieving the key results of the company.
  • Responsible for promoting Breg's culture within the organization using established tools such as storytelling, providing focused feedback, and recognition. The performance of the position is aligned with the culture of commitment and accountability, following the steps of: See it, Own it, Solve it, and Do it.


What You Bring



  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience (e.g., DMEPOS, wound care, casting) required.
  • Understanding of basic anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, insurance claims, insurance benefits, and orthopedic injuries and conditions as they relate to the application of off the shelf (OTS) bracing.
  • Holds a current certification as an Orthopedic Technologist (OTC) or Orthopedic Technologist Certified (OTC/OTC-A) required, preferably by the National Board of Certified Orthopedic Technologists (NBCOT); equivalent training from Military Training Program may also be considered.

    • Employees who do not hold the required certification or credential at the time of hire must obtain Board Certification within 12 months of their start date as a condition of continued employment with Breg.
    • Employees must complete all required continuing education and maintain certification in good standing throughout their employment with Breg.


  • Computer proficient to include web browser/internet search, Microsoft (MS) Outlook, Word, and Teams capabilities. Technical competence includes the ability to learn new software and systems.

    Work Schedules include....



    • Work schedule may include variable start/end times outside of the company's standard business hours of 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
    • Must be flexible to adjust the shift timings and work for extended hours based on business needs which may include nights and weekends.
    • Participates in an oncall rotation within the market territory, which may include responding to voicemail messages and mobile phone communications as needed.
    • Requires travel to various assigned locations up to 20% using own transportation.
    • May be required to provide coverage at other Breg Patient Service Centers (PSCs), locally or in other regions, often on short notice, which may include outofstate travel by car or plane and necessitate overnight stays.
    • Additional screening and/or identity verification may be required to access internal and external electronic record management systems and insurance portals.
    • May be required to satisfy third-party credentialing/screening requirements to gain access to hospital accounts


    Compensation

    Salary Range: $20.00-$29.00/hr. Actual compensation is determined by factors such as experience, skills, and business needs. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target range for new hire base salary/pay across all US locations. Actual pay is based on many factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographical location, work experience, skill set, relevant trainings and certifications, and business needs. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus.
