Position Summary/ Department Summary:
Cleans, maintains and stocks anesthesia workroom and anesthesia supplies in all operating rooms and satellite anesthetizing locations. Assist the anesthesia provider in the safe and efficient care of patients receiving anesthesia. Provides specialized airway equipment when requested by anesthesia provider.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cleans and stocks anesthesia workroom, machines and supply carts. Cleans and stocks special procedure carts.
  • Assists in anesthesia set up for procedures in all OR settings. Sets up and checks all required equipment is ready prior to the start of the case.
  • Provides anesthesia items and equipment necessary for patient transport following each procedure and assists in transport when necessary.
  • Removes soiled items from, wipes down and restocks anesthesia machine and cart following each procedure.
  • Stocks supplies in all anesthetizing locations and ensures equipment is properly stored.
  • When scheduled cases are completed, prepares anesthesia machines and carts for use the following day.
  • Provides routine troubleshooting of anesthesia machines and monitors. Reports malfunctions to supervisor and/or biomedical engineering department.
  • Participates in training programs offered by the Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain Medicine.
  • Assists anesthesia provider in the acquisition, preparation and application of the equipment and supplies required for the administration of anesthesia.
  • Prepares anesthesia machine for malignant hyperthermia as needed.
  • Assembles and prepares intravenous (IV) solutions for anesthesia provider
  • Works with perioperative team to ensure prompt OR turnover.
  • Assists with difficult airway management by providing equipment needs such as video laryngoscope and fiberoptic intubation cart.
  • Prepares age appropriate anesthesia equipment, monitors, and airway support.
  • Respond to and assist in airway emergency events and codes in the perioperative environment.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
High School diploma/GED is required.
Working towards college degree is preferred.

Experience:
1 year work experience in a hospital setting is required.
Licensure/ Certifications:

Certification/Registration Required
BLS certification within first 6 months Within 6 months, trained in infectious disease precautious to provide patient care to ID patient (ex. COVID, TB, etc.)

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
