The Market Intelligence Coordinator supports the Capture and Proposal Department by conducting structured market research, maintaining intelligence databases, and assisting with competitive analysis related to federal contracting opportunities.

This early-career role provides execution-level support to the Market Intelligence Specialist and contributes to business development (BD), capture, and proposal efforts through timely data collection, opportunity tracking, and basic analytical support.

The Coordinator will independently manage smaller research assignments and quick-turn capture requests while partnering with the Specialist on larger strategic initiatives.

Experience within a small business federal contractor environment - including working knowledge of the SBA 8(a) program and small business set-aside contracting - is required.

Key Responsibilities

Market Research & Data Collection

  • Conduct structured research on federal procurement opportunities, agencies, and competitors using platforms such as GovWin, DACIS, FPDS, SAM.gov, and agency forecast portals.
  • Compile and organize data related to agency budgets, contract awards, and expiring contracts.
  • Support tracking of IDIQs, GWACs, BPAs, and other contracting vehicles relevant to company growth.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of findings for use in capture and proposal development.

Opportunity & Competitive Tracking

  • Track recompetes, new solicitations, and small business set-aside opportunities, including 8(a), HUBZone, SDVOSB, and other socioeconomic programs.
  • Conduct basic competitor research, including contract awards, teaming relationships, and contract history.
  • Prepare summaries and data briefs to support capture positioning discussions.
  • Independently support smaller opportunities and quick capture requests with focused research and initial analysis.

Analysis Support

  • Perform basic quantitative and qualitative analysis for small-scale opportunities.
  • Assist the Market Intelligence Specialist in synthesizing larger datasets and preparing intelligence summaries.
  • Contribute to preliminary assessments of agency buying behavior and small business utilization trends.
  • Support development of Excel-based trackers, opportunity matrices, and data summaries.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Coordinate with BD and capture team members to gather data requirements for research requests.
  • Serve as a point of contact for smaller intelligence inquiries.
  • Assist in preparing briefing materials and reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Support, but not lead, executive-level briefings.

Data Management & Reporting

  • Maintain and update intelligence trackers, dashboards, and knowledge management systems.
  • Ensure data accuracy, version control, and timely updates.
  • Support development of dashboards and recurring intelligence reports.
  • Organize documentation related to federal forecasts, pipeline tracking, and small business contracting activity.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Market Research, Economics, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in market research, government contracting, business development support, or capture support.
  • Required experience working within a small business federal contractor environment.
  • Working knowledge of the SBA 8(a) program and federal small business contracting requirements is mandatory.
  • Experience supporting federal opportunity identification and tracking.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data organization, pivot tables, basic analysis required).
  • Experience using federal procurement and intelligence platforms such as GovWin, DACIS, FPDS, and SAM.gov.
  • Familiarity with PowerPoint and exposure to PowerBI dashboards.
  • Ability to compile and organize data from multiple federal sources.

Knowledge Requirements

  • Understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with IDIQs, GWACs, BPAs, and small business set-aside vehicles.
  • Working knowledge of federal small business programs, particularly the 8(a) program.

Soft Skills

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage smaller tasks independently while collaborating on larger initiatives.
  • Clear written communication skills for preparing research summaries.
  • Detail-oriented and comfortable working with structured data.

Benefits of the Role

  • Direct exposure to federal market intelligence and capture strategy processes.
  • Hands-on experience in small business federal contracting strategy.
  • Opportunity to grow into higher-level analytical and strategic responsibilities.
  • Career development within the federal business development and capture lifecycle.
