What to Expect
The Manufacturing Automation Development Engineering team is looking for an Engineering Technician to build, troubleshoot and improve custom automation projects at Tesla manufacturing facilities. In this role you will work closely with engineering teams to reduce cost, increase capacity and deliver quality manufacturing equipment. This role is based at Tesla's manufacturing facility in New York. You will work with senior technicians, grow your technical skills and help land automation projects. You will keep development spaces organized, well-stocked and tooled for the job. You will take pride in hands-on work, craftsmanship, organizational skills and attention to detail. You will learn on the job, provide guidance to junior peers and operate efficiently with minimal guidance.

What You'll Do
  • Assemble electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic manufacturing equipment
  • Assemble prototype equipment for engineering research and development
  • Rig, locate, align and level equipment according to engineering layouts
  • Execute technician tasks independently after initial instruction, including at other Tesla sites
  • Collaborate with other technician teams, provide instruction and verify craftsmanship
  • Work with cross-functional engineering teams to escalate issues and suggest solutions

What You'll Bring
  • Experience assembling equipment from mechanical engineering drawings
  • Proficiency reading electrical schematics and wiring electrical control panels
  • Experience installing, wiring and plumbing common manufacturing devices
  • Working knowledge of DC/AC electrical systems
  • Hands-on machining experience including mills, lathes, saws, grinders, etc.
  • Experience rigging, operating forklifts, operating scissor lifts and using pallet jacks
  • Ability to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills with meticulous attention to detail

    Expected Compensation
    • Engineering Tech I - $21.96 - $32.94/hour
    • Engineering Tech II - $25.92 - $38.88/hour
    • Engineering Tech III - $30.24 - $45.36/hour
    • Engineering Tech IV - $33.84 - $50.76/hour
    • Engineering Tech V - $39.24 - $58.86/hour
    + cash and stock awards + benefits for all levels

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
