Opposition Force (OPFOR) / Guerrilla Role Player

Field training areas including Camp Mackall, Pineland, Fort Bragg, and other exercise-dependent ARSOF training locations

Opposition Force (OPFOR) and Guerrilla Role Players provide professional role-play support to ARSOF field and situational training exercises. Personnel portray enemy, guerrilla, and other scenario-directed roles; react to student actions; simulate combat; operate under austere field conditions; and perform assigned scenario tasks in accordance with Cadre guidance and safety requirements.

Job Duties:

* Act out assigned OPFOR, guerrilla, enemy-person, civilian non-combatant, or other exercise roles in accordance with the scenario and Cadre guidance; personnel may perform multiple roles as exercise requirements change.

* Simulate guerrilla or combat activity, including use of blank ammunition and, when directed, training systems such as simunitions, paintball, and pyrotechnics in accordance with applicable safety requirements.

* Perform rudimentary light infantry tactics at the direction of the student chain of command and Cadre Team and move along designated routes or occupy assigned stations/target areas.

* Learn and apply Government-provided scenario information, back brief proposed role-playing details, and adjust role-play based on Cadre decisions and trainee performance.

* Conduct training support in field environments during day and night, all seasons and inclement weather, including multi-day field periods without normal dining, shower, laundry, or sleeping facilities when assigned.

* Wear clothing appropriate to the assigned role and environment; maintain required self-sustainment items such as a day pack, assault pack, or rucksack and water containers.

* When assigned as select OPFOR or Guerrilla personnel, travel cross-country up to two kilometers with a 30-pound rucksack/daypack as required by the exercise.

* When captured or killed in the scenario, comply with approved search procedures, including the required pat-down search.

Basic Qualifications:

* Be able to simulate combat and perform assigned OPFOR/Guerrilla role-player duties in accordance with the exercise scenario, Cadre direction, and applicable safety procedures.

* Be able to perform in an austere field environment during all weather conditions, day and night, during field duties.

* Be physically capable of performing the prescribed role-player mission and complete the required medical/physical clearance for participation when applicable.

* Select OPFOR and Guerrilla role players must be capable of traveling up to two kilometers cross-country with a 30-pound rucksack or daypack when required.

* Select OPFOR role players must be able to obtain an FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate with a Small UAS Rating when assigned to the applicable UAS role.

* Provide proof of U.S. citizenship or eligibility to work in the United States if not a U.S. citizen.

* No security clearance is required for OPFOR or Guerrilla role players.

Other Requirements:

Performance Location: Exercise-dependent field training areas including Camp Mackall, Pineland, Fort Bragg, central North Carolina, and other ARSOF training locations identified in exercise schedules/enclosures.

Working Environment:

Field role-play is performed under austere conditions, day and night, in all seasons and inclement weather. Depending on the assigned scenario, work may include cross-country movement with a pack, simulated combat, blank ammunition/simunitions/paintball/pyrotechnics, extended field periods, and approved pat-down searches after simulated capture or death.
