The Adult Reconstruction Division, under the supervision of Dr. Sean Ryan, has a Research Technician 1 position conducting arthroplasty research focused on clinical outcomes, costs, resource utilization, value-based care, and data-driven decision-making, while collaborating with the Total Joint Learning Health Unit, Adult Reconstruction Division, Duke Value-Based Care Committee, and AI research partners.

What You'll Do:



  1. Research with the Total Joint Learning Health Unit (Bolognesi, Horn, George) focusing on outcomes for hip, knee, and shoulder arthroplasty
  2. Research with Division members of Adult Reconstruction
  3. Research looking at costs and utilization of resources for arthroplasty to help develop novel payment programs working with the Duke Value-Based Care Committee
  4. Research using administrative databases to help drive decision-making for clinical care in the Division of Adult Reconstruction, and also in relation to future bundled programs with CMS and private payers
  5. Collaboration on research with the LHU AI Fellow (Irene Tanner) on image-based projects



Minimum Qualifications

Education: Work requires an Associate's degree in botany, biology, zoology, psychology, or other science related field.

Experience: None required above the education/training requirement

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $20.00 to USD $27.02.
