Job Summary
The Inside Sales Representative (ISR) is a key position that has a vital role in contributing to the organization's revenue growth through expansion of accounts assigned to the Inside Sales group. This role requires successfully closing new sales opportunities through proactive outreach and cold calling efforts to achieve strategic sales growth targets. By leveraging their deep product and industry experience, the successful candidate will be expected to generate leads by up-selling and promoting R.S. Hughes' products and services. Additionally, the ISR is responsible for maintaining and expanding existing customer relationships to maximize wallet share through effective communication, professionalism, and excellent service. This role is expected to adhere to all company policies and safety protocols. The ideal candidate manages their book of business from nose to tail - prospecting through invoicing - and brings the underlying skill set of a Sales Support or Operations Specialist, able to step in across quoting, pricing, order processing, and account setup whenever needed.
Core Responsibilities
- Generates revenue growth by soliciting and obtaining orders, understanding and interpreting customer objectives, providing product & services information to our customers in pursuit of maximizing wallet share with significant assigned business sector accounts.
- Assesses assigned business sector/ industry trends while identifying net-new sales
- Develops sales opportunities by researching and identifying ways to expand R.S. Hughes' share of wallet in existing accounts, soliciting new or inactive accounts, building rapport, providing product information and explanations of S. Hughes' services, and preparing quotations.
- Closes net-new opportunities within existing accounts and generating interest at new accounts through proactive phone calls, e- mails, and professional social media platforms such as LinkedIn.
- Owns full responsibility for revenue and gross profit growth across a customer portfolio comprised of key strategic business sector accounts.
- Develops accounts by evaluating customers' buying history, suggesting related and new items, and explaining unique value propositions specific to each customer.
- Leverages our Front Customer Experience management system to promptly answer phone calls, e-mails, and other digital inquiries from key stakeholders within the established customer portfolio and new customers.
- Maintains and improves the quality of results by following established standards and recommending improved policies and
- Enhances job skill sets and knowledge by studying new product descriptions and participating in educational
- Utilizes CRM tools and other resources to track progress and improve revenue growth
- Draws on deep industry sector knowledge and professional skillsets to help guide/ mentor/ train less experienced team members.
- Collaborates with Customer Care to fill orders by transferring purchase orders to the Customer Care team, communicating expected delivery dates to customers, and solving problems when stock-outs occur.
- Manages a full book of business from prospecting through invoicing, applying working knowledge of quoting, pricing, sourcing, and order processing to keep every stage moving quickly and accurately.
- Prepares and manages customer quotes and bids, sourcing competitive pricing and lead times to convert opportunities into closed business.
- Builds and validates part numbers and product cross-references to support accurate quoting, ordering, and invoicing.
- Leads new account setup - including classification, terms, and coding - partnering with Credit & Finance to activate accounts quickly.
- Monitors order status and proactively communicates updates to customers, stepping in to process orders, resolve pricing or sourcing issues, and support Customer Care during overflow periods.
- Delivers against Key Predictive Indicator expectations - such as Opportunity Creation, Opportunities Won, and SKU Count
- Delivers against core business objectives - such as double-digit top line revenue growth and gross profit growth within established customer portfolio.

Basic Qualifications
- BA/BS University degree with a concentration in marketing, promotions, advertising sales, or business administration, and
- 5+ years of industry sales experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of, or willingness to learn, quoting, pricing/sourcing, order processing, and account setup procedures across the full sales-to-fulfillment cycle.

Compensation Our merit-based salary/bonus program offers exceptional growth opportunities. Compensation for this non-exempt role is up to $23 to $25/ hour DOE.
