UCSD Layoff from Career Appointment: Apply by 8/20/26 for consideration with preference for rehire. All layoff applicants should contact their Employment Advisor. Reassignment Applicants: Eligible Reassignment clients should contact their Disability Counselor for assistance. Reporting to the Executive Director of Campus Activation and University Centers, with work direction from the Director of Triton Event Services and the Welcome Center Manager, the Triton Center Reservations and Welcome Coordinator serves as a primary front-of-house ambassador for UC San Diego, creating a welcoming, informative, and engaging experience for visitors, students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members. The Coordinator is often the first point of contact for campus guests, providing personalized recommendations for tours, events, exhibits, dining, and engagement opportunities that reflect UC San Diego's innovation, culture, and impact. In this highly visible role, the Coordinator leads and supports UC San Diego ambassadors, docents, volunteers, and student employees by providing training, daily guidance, and coaching to ensure consistent, high-quality customer service and accurate campus knowledge. The Coordinator supports Welcome Center programming and special events, promotes self-guided and docent-led tours, contributes to the development of new engagement experiences, and helps coordinate retail and specialty services such as ticketing, registrations, and campus merchandise in alignment with University policies. In addition to guest experience responsibilities, the Coordinator supports campus-wide event and space coordination through the Triton Reservation and Event System (T-RES), an enterprise platform used by departments across campus to schedule venues, plan events, and complete required safety and policy workflows. Serving as a front-line resource for customers and campus partners, the Coordinator assists with reservation processing, guides T-RES users through event requirements, identifies issues or incomplete submissions, and helps ensure appropriate space usage, setup, and compliance with safety and fire code standards. After an event has been booked, the Coordinator works closely with the event planners, service providers, and campus stakeholders to support smooth execution of meetings and events, contributes to the completion of a high-volume reservation operation, and provides clear communication throughout the planning process. The role also monitors guest experience tools and exhibits within the Welcome Center, recommends enhancements to engagement methods including digital and AI-supported resources, and collaborates with campus units to highlight UC San Diego programs, achievements, and opportunities. Using data collected from visitor interactions and reservation systems, the Coordinator prepares reports, tracks trends, and contributes to program improvements, budget planning, and service enhancements. The position applies established University policies and operational procedures to address day-to-day administrative and service challenges, resolve customer issues, and support a welcoming, efficient, and well-coordinated campus experience.
