Job Summary Job Profile SummarySummary Responsible for providing specialized support in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of orthopedic conditions under the direction of the orthopedic surgeon. Train other employees, ensuring that patient care is delivered accurately and efficiently. Assists in the application of casts, braces, splints, and other orthopedic devices, and may also assist in surgical procedures. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions -Applies knowledge and skills of cast application, traction set-up and maintenance in carrying out designated responsibilities -Acts as a resource where expertise is requested in orthopedic devices; may train and provide guidance to other orthopedic technicians -Plans, implements, and monitors appropriate spending and budget for orthopedic supplies and equipment. -Collaborates with physicians and nurses regarding the impact of practice or cost and utilization of orthopedic equipment and supplies. -Collaborates with clinical staff on a ongoing basis regarding orthopedic quality improvement activities and orthopedic improvement. -Identifies critical indicators which will be used to monitor and evaluate quality. -Prepares and knows the specific uses of all equipment and supplies used for orthopedic procedures.
