What to Expect

We are looking for a Supply Chain Manager (SCM) to support our responsible sourcing efforts in the battery supply chain as we accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy. The SCM will proactively assesssocial and environmental risksin the battery supply chain and drive targeted and innovative activities to elevate supplier sustainability performance.

This is a full-timepositionbased in Palo Alto, CA. In-person presence is a non-negotiable requirementofthis role. The position also requires the ability to travel domestically and internationally,sometimeson short notice.

The role is in Tesla's Battery Responsible Sourcing (RS) team, which is part of the Battery Cell Supply Chain Management (SCM) organization that includes commercial procurement and supplier industrialization engineering.

The ideal candidate is passionate about advancing sustainability in battery and critical mineral supplychains,andexcels in a dynamic environment that allows them to independently develop innovative approaches.


What You'll Do
  • Driveresponsible sourcing efforts for inactivebatterymaterials (e.g.,binders,separator,mechanical parts,and related components)
  • Systematically assess social and environmental risks across the battery supply chain toidentifyand prioritize suppliers for targeted engagement
  • Leverage survey tools, automation, and digital platforms to efficiently scale supplier outreach and data collection
  • Engage with suppliers to develop action plans and drive improvements in working conditions, environmental management, and corporate governance
  • Collect, analyze, andreport oncomplex supply chain data; track supplier performance using KPIs toidentifytrends and prioritize action
  • Perform due diligence across battery and critical mineral supply chains using third-party platforms and other external sources
  • Present strategic risk assessments and mitigation strategies to internal stakeholders, including commercial supply chain managers and executives
  • Review supplier contracts to ensure robust responsible sourcing clauses are embedded
  • Conduct regular onsite supplier visits, sometimes on short notice

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management,Engineeringor equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in supply chain
  • Strong analytical skillswithexperience tracking supplier KPIs and translating data into actionable insights
  • Familiarity withbattery cell manufacturing processes is a plus, especiallypassive materials such as electrolyte, copper foil, carbon slurry, steel, barriers, separator, binders, aluminum, etc.
  • Understanding of relevant responsible sourcing standards, frameworks, and audit processes
  • Exceptional analytical skills
  • Strong precision and attention to detail
  • Ability to excel in fast-paced, complex, and ambiguous situations
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to foster cross-functional collaboration, including with Commercial Procurement, Trade Legal, Policy, and Engineering functions
  • Proficiencyin Mandarin, Korean, or other Asian languages is preferred

    Expected Compensation
    $84,000 - $324,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
