Program Operations Manager, Retail Electricity

Tesla Electric is expanding its retail electricity business inthe US, starting with Illinois. This Program Operations Manager will own the day-to-day operational and compliance functions of Tesla'salternativeretail electricity supplier(ARES)and ongoing market participation in Illinois (PJM territory), with scope to expand intoadditionalderegulated markets over time.

This role is the market-facing operational owner for Illinois - managing regulatory compliance obligations, coordinating filing workflows with external counsel, interfacing with state regulators, the incumbent utility, and relevant program administrators, and building the internal processes that allow Tesla Electric to serve Illinois customers reliably and in good standing.

This position reports to theTechnical ProgramManager overseeing Tesla Electric's retail operations and works cross-functionally with legal, product, customer support, and finance.

A successful candidate understands how retail electric suppliers operate inside Illinois regulatory structures, is energized by the operational complexity of a new market entry, and can build durable processes in an environment where much is still being defined.

• Own compliance and operational continuity for Tesla's Illinois retail electricity supplier certification - license renewals, tariff maintenance, regulatory correspondence, and reporting obligations
• Serve as the primary point of contact for market-facing regulatory interactions, including with state regulators, the incumbent utility, relevant program administrators, and external regulatory counsel
• Orchestrate recurring compliance filing calendars; track deadlines, coordinate drafts, manage review cycles, and ensure timely submission
• Build and maintain internal processes for enrollment, customer lifecycle events, and back-office coordination specific to the Illinois market
• Monitor regulatory developments - state commission dockets, renewable energy program rule changes, PJM market updates - and flag material impacts to the business
• Partner with legal, product, customer support, and finance stakeholders to translate regulatory requirements into operational workflows
• Track operational KPIs; identify and escalate issues before they become compliance risks

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience in retail electricity operationsor a closely related role in a deregulated electricity market
• Direct experience operating or overseeing a licensed retail electric supplier or equivalent entity in Illinois/PJM
• Fluency with Illinois retail electricity regulatory structures - supplier certification requirements, renewable energy program obligations, enrollment protocols, and ongoing compliance requirements
• Strong program management fundamentals: filing calendars, deadline tracking, cross-functional coordination, documentation discipline
• Comfortable reading regulatory orders, tariff provisions, and compliance requirements independently; able to translate them into internal action items
• Self-sufficient, detail-oriented, and capable of holding multiple operational threads simultaneously
