Summary: The University of North Carolina Hospitals and Clinics Department of Pharmacy's Acute Care Services Team has an immediate opening for a highly motivated individual interested in providing patient care to our adult intensive care patient population. UNC is a Level 1 Trauma Center that receives patients from all over the state of North Carolina who require the highest level of specialized care for trauma. The primary practice site will be the 40-bed Surgical Trauma Critical Care Unit. The STCCU cares for critically ill patients following trauma and all non-cardiac surgeries. These patients come through the UNC Hospitals Emergency Department, from the medical or surgical acute care units, and as transfers from other hospitals throughout the state of North Carolina and the region. The STCCU Clinical Pharmacist will work in a multidisciplinary environment alongside our adult intensive care unit multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care to critically ill patients at UNC Hospitals. The position will provide pharmacotherapy services, medication profile review, emergency response, response to drug information questions, order verification, problem resolution and distributive functions as needed. This person will work closely with other members of the Department of Pharmacy to address any needs that might arise and that require this person's qualifications and/or expertise. There are also opportunities to precept pharmacy students as a part of the institution's relationship with the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. The hours of this position will be Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm with a weekend rotation. These hours may change if needed based on operational needs. Qualified candidates will have earned a BS in Pharmacy or a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited school/college of pharmacy and must be licensed or eligible for licensure to practice pharmacy in the State of North Carolina. The designation of Board Certification in Critical Care (BCCCP) and completion of a PGY1 and PGY2 Critical Care residency or an equivalent level of pharmacy experience is also preferred.
