Job Summary

Oversee the University Philanthropic Foundation and Athletic Foundation general accounting and financial reporting to ensure that transaction accuracy, reporting accuracy and high-level customer service is delivered to our internal and external customers. Will oversee maintenance of general ledger, accounts payable, budget management , report development, generation and analysis, budget to actual reporting, financial statement preparation and analysis, investment accounting, accounting research and problem resolution, reconciliation processes, assist CFO with cash management and other operational needs and projects related to the financial activities and initiatives of the organizations.

Responsibilities
  • Serve on Chief Financial Officer's Leadership team and assist CFO with audit and tax return (income and use tax) compliance, working closely with outside audit and tax advisors to ensure timely, clean, and accurate filing and
    compliance with FASB and IRS regulations.
  • Oversee, analyze, and record investment, endowment and administrative fee activity for the Foundations, including related reporting and compliance; complete annual endowment surveys and respond to related institutional and external data requests. Also oversee Gift Annuity and Charitable Trust Accounting for foundations
  • Develop, implement and maintain accounting policies, procedures and internal controls to promote accurate financial reporting and efficient foundation operations
  • Work closely with the university finance and business office on accounting matters related to charges and reimbursement between entities, occasional reporting support for NCAA compliance reports for the athletic foundation and various other miscellaneous needs
  • Manage and oversee staff responsible for management of E&G ("state") budget activities for University Advancement and External Relations ensuring appropriate monitoring, reporting and sharing of data with university finance are handled timely and accurately. Responsible for various approvals and routings required for purchasing, budget modification requests and other transactions typical of this role
  • Serve as "in-house" expert on Blackbaud Financial Edge Accounting/Reporting module, and train other users as necessary to develop depth of understanding across our unit. Trains Foundation account users on financial reporting software and provides support for on-demand report users
  • Supervise Accounting staff responsible for accounts payable, budget reporting, general ledger support, ad hoc reporting, bank and other account reconciliations and other tasks typical of accounting staff. Assign and delegate responsibility for work deadlines as appropriate
Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting

Required Experience

  • Four (4) or more years of experience in accounting
Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant

  • Raisers Edge and Financial Edge experience  
  • Nonprofit and Fund Accounting experience  
  • Supervisory Experience
Proposed Salary

$97,000 - $100,000

This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
