Job Description:

As Sr Manager Crew Analysis, you'll lead a Team at the center of some of Southwest's most important operational and strategic decisions. Supporting Air Operations Analytics, you'll drive the development of data, tools, and insights that inform Crew Planning, Scheduling, Recovery, Staffing, Labor Strategy, and contract negotiations. You'll partner closely with Leaders across Flight Operations, Inflight, Labor Relations, Financial Planning & Analysis, Technology, and other Teams to translate complex operational and contractual data into clear recommendations, compelling stories, and actionable solutions. In this highly visible role, you'll also help prepare negotiation Teams with the analytics needed to support critical discussions, provide insights on contract performance and proposed changes, and influence decisions that impact both Employees and the operation. Through strategic leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and data-driven storytelling, you'll help shape the future of Air Operations while supporting a safe, reliable, and efficient operation.

  • Guide and lead team members using SWA talent management practices to coach, develop, and engage employees

Responsibilities
  • Establish a vision for the development of new processes/tools/reports to support greater efficiency for Air Operations, including Crew Planning & Scheduling, Crew Recovery, Training, Network Planning, CBA reporting and CBA preparations
  • Conduct analysis on proposed work rule changes and supports Labor Relations with crew related data
  • Provide friendly service to and maintain positive relationships with all internal and external Customers
  • Provide oversight of the creation and delivery of presentations to Company leaders, Employees, and Unions
  • Collect and manage cost related and pay data to aid in the development of financial tools/forecasting by partnering with FP&A
  • Drive operational and cost improvements for staffing, crew pairings, daily open time assignment, and irregular operations management including Crew Recovery
  • Act as a liaison between the Company and various Labor groups for analytics related matters, direct research, and may represent the Company in resolution of contractual and procedural questions or disputes
  • Identify deficiencies with current practices and develop working plans to correct deficiencies
  • Partner with Technology Leadership on current/future data needs around production systems and EDW
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally
  • Ability to read and comprehend written documents including federal regulations, labor contracts and company material
  • Expert knowledge in creating and conducting presentations to Executive Leadership, Unions, and other groups
  • Skilled in driving, handling, and resolving complex tasks simultaneously in challenging environments including situations that involve conflict resolution
  • Expert ability to understand complex Excel models, Business Intelligence tools, databases, and optimization tools
  • Skilled at working under tight time constraints and in high stress situations to accomplish assignments
  • Ability to maintain focus on tasks while working in a busy and distracting environment
Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
  • Required: Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)
  • Required: Fully functioning, broad knowledge in:
    • Scheduling, Crew Planning, Network Planning or operational research analysis
    • Advanced analytics including spreadsheet design, data visualization, and optimization
    • Advanced SQL experience
  • Preferred: Experience in Crew operations or a similar operational environment
  • Preferred: Experience supporting negotiations, stakeholder discussions, or agreement-related initiatives

Physical Abilities
  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Extended work hours will be required based on operational need
  • Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary and sensitive Company information

Pay & Benefits

  • Competitive market salary from $160,550 per year to $178,400 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
