Responsibilities:

JOB SUMMARY
Coordinates, facilitates, evaluates, and supervises the activities of the Network Central Monitoring Department at HonorHealth. Assists in the management of the unit's assigned staff in the performance of their duties adhering to the ultimate goals of quality and safe patient care, while demonstrating fiscal responsibility. Assumes responsibility and accountability for incorporating the vision, values, mission, and critical goals of the organization into their job performance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Supervises designated healthcare professionals to assure efficient functioning of the Central Monitoring Department through principled leadership, effective and efficient communications, and with the goal of providing safe, quality patient care in a fiscally responsible manner. Rounds throughout the facility to communicate with nurses, physicians and others to promote and foster interdepartmental communication and relations. Communicates with peers and staff at the Scottsdale Shea and Thompson Peak campuses in order to effectively coordinate staffing and equipment resources.
  • Monitors and interprets cardiac rhythms at the central telemetry station. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit and principles of growth and development of the life span. Possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's departmental policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates department workloads as necessary throughout the shift. Assures appropriate staffing coverage for current patient population and the on-coming shifts. Utilizes staffing guidelines and resources in a fiscally responsible manner to provide quality patient care. Monitors, maintains, tracks and trends annual capital and operational budgets. Assures that all shift paperwork is complete, accurate, and legible. Assures all department quality indicators are monitored, documented, and maintained.
  • Prepares, announces, facilitates, and files minutes of shift meetings, department meetings, and in-services. Communicates with the department Director or his/her designee frequently through verbal and written means of communication in a clear, concise and appropriate manner. Supports management decisions and works to accomplish corporate and departmental goals. Participates in special projects as necessary.
  • Participates in interviewing, selecting, and hiring new personnel. Contributes to the retention of talented staff through positive role-modeling, fostering peer relationships, staff education, professional growth, and participating in the preceptor and/or mentor programs.
  • Formally evaluates staff assigned at the 90-day period, annually, and as needed in collaboration with the department director. Keep confidential and accurate records regarding staff member performance between evaluation periods. Participates in the orientation of new employees and students. Participates in the departmental annual clinical competency evaluations as well as the required hospital wide competencies of the staff. Counsels and disciplines staff members and documents such encounters. Consults with the department Director and/or human resources in dealing with disciplinary actions.
  • Maintains expertise with all equipment utilized in the Central Monitoring Department. Assures the adequate supply and stocking of department disposable and capital equipment. Orders as necessary or communicates supply needs to appropriate parties. Reprocesses and assures the availability of clean reprocessed equipment and helps to maintain equipment in good working order. Takes broken equipment to biomedical office with repair paperwork properly filled out. Facilitates product evaluation and meets with vendor representatives as needed.
  • Maintains employee departmental files, records of shift work assigned and accomplished, for each shift supervised. Maintains staff schedules and assures adequate identification for time off, cross-campus travel, and assignment preferences. Assures compliance with HIPAA standards regarding patient privacy issues. Is familiar with and utilizes all policies and procedures to assure quality, safety and consistency. If unsure of appropriate actions to take, consults with next level of authority.
  • Provides input into the short and long-term goals of the department and supports structures and processes for improvement. Identifies needs for departmental program development and works with the department educator and director to meet those needs.
EDUCATION
  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Other / Certificate Must be able to complete ECG Exam Required
EXPERIENCE
  • 2 years, Telemetry Technician experience in an acute care facility Required
  • 3 years, Telemetry Technician experience in an acute care facility Preferred
  • Other, Leadership experience Preferred
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification, Healthcare Provider Training Course Required
  • Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) - Certification, 1 Year Required
