Job Title: Senior Certification Engineer

Location(s): Atlanta, GA

Job Summary
We are seeking a Certification Engineer to support aircraft modification and certification programs. This role is responsible for developing certification documentation, coordinating with regulatory authorities and project stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with applicable airworthiness requirements. The ideal candidate has experience with aircraft certification processes, engineering substantiation, and aerospace design principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop certification plans, compliance checklists, and conformity inspection plans.
  • Prepare substantiation reports and develop test plans and test reports related to flammability and cabin safety.
  • Create certification presentations for regulatory and project meetings.
  • Manage small STC (Supplemental Type Certificate) and PMA (Parts Manufacturer Approval) certification projects.
  • Coordinate certification data deliverables from suppliers and respond to certification inquiries, significant certification issues, and airworthiness concerns.
  • Identify applicable airworthiness regulations for major aircraft design changes.
  • Support interactions with FAA regulatory authorities through project presentations and technical discussions.
  • Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders on certification activities for aircraft modification projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering/scientific discipline preferred.
  • 4-7 years of engineering experience. Relevant internships and co-op experience may be considered toward the experience requirement.
  • Knowledge of aircraft certification processes and engineering substantiation techniques.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with aircraft mechanical and structural design processes, aerospace materials, fabrication methods, and aerospace hardware.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of aircraft interiors.
  • Experience as a Certification Engineer, Design Engineer, or Substantiation Engineer.

Preferred Skills

  • Understanding of FAA certification requirements and airworthiness regulations.
  • Experience supporting STC and PMA certification programs.
  • Technical documentation and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to coordinate with cross-functional engineering teams and external suppliers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience supporting certification testing, including flammability and cabin safety.
