Position summary

Tantus, a Sikich Subsidiary, is seeking a Journeyman Computer Support Specialist to support the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) in Washington, DC.

In this role, you will deliver advanced front-line technical support to agency staff, troubleshooting complex hardware and software issues, managing endpoint deployments across Windows and macOS environments, and coordinating with internal engineering and cybersecurity teams to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery. You will play a hands-on role in maintaining and modernizing CBO's endpoint management environment while contributing to operational excellence through SOPs, knowledge base documentation, and automation.

What will you do in this role?

  • Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot Windows desktops, macOS systems, and mobile devices (iOS/Android); ensure each device is properly imaged, inventoried, validated against security baselines, and ready for end-user delivery.
  • Manage service tickets through the help desk ticketing system; diagnose and resolve complex issues including MFA failures, identity anomalies, network connectivity problems, and endpoint irregularities.
  • Install, configure, and maintain hardware, software, and peripherals across Windows and macOS; apply patches, firmware updates, and approved security configurations to maintain compliance with Zero Trust and Defense-in-Depth standards.
  • Register and configure mobile devices in enterprise MDM platforms; provide users with training and troubleshooting on authentication, MFA, and secure remote connectivity.
  • Leverage endpoint automation platforms (Ivanti EPM, KACE, JAMF, Microsoft Intune) to load and verify software packages, enforce configuration baselines, and streamline imaging and patching workflows.
  • Administer Microsoft Entra ID / Active Directory environments, including user account provisioning, group policy adjustments, and identity lifecycle management.
  • Support macOS and iOS administration including device enrollment, configuration profile deployment, FileVault management, and integration with enterprise authentication and compliance frameworks.
  • Analyze Windows Event Viewer and macOS Console logs to identify error patterns; develop evidence-based solutions and contribute to knowledge base articles, SOPs, and automation scripts to prevent recurrence.
  • Coordinate with the Service Desk, Network Operations, Cloud Services, and Cybersecurity teams to ensure timely issue resolution; mentor Tier I personnel and support escalations to Tier III engineering as needed.
  • Perform secure drive sanitization and destruction using BitRaser or approved tools; replace defective hardware components and maintain accurate asset records in accordance with CBO asset management procedures.
  • Participate periodically in patch management cycles, vulnerability remediation (coordinating with Nessus scan findings), incident response activities, and imaging strategy development to support CBO's broader IT modernization efforts.

What do you need to succeed in this role?

  • Must be a United States Citizen and must pass a favorable FBI criminal check and be fingerprinted

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
  • Preferred 5 years of Enterprise-level administration and support experience for macOS and Windows operating systems, including imaging, deployment, configuration management, and adherence to organizational security baselines.
  • Hands-on experience with endpoint management and automation platforms such as Ivanti EPM, KACE, Microsoft Intune, and JAMF to deploy software, manage devices, enforce policies, and streamline routine tasks.
  • Ability to manage and troubleshoot identity and access management services, including Microsoft Entra ID / Active Directory, MFA, role-based access controls, and AWS-integrated identity solutions.
  • Proficiency diagnosing and resolving authentication, connectivity, and endpoint performance issues by analyzing system logs, Event Viewer data, macOS Console diagnostics, and other monitoring tools.
  • Strong understanding of advanced system administration including patch management, baseline configuration, automated imaging processes, and endpoint deployment workflows.
  • Familiarity with cloud and hybrid environment management, including AWS-hosted resources, identity services, and integrations between on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of Zero Trust security principles ensuring all endpoint, user, and network interactions follow the organization's security, compliance, and configuration standards.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, including the ability to document technical procedures, create user-friendly guides, and mentor Tier I technicians.
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Preferred certifications: CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate, Apple Certified IT Professional, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (or higher), ITIL Foundation, or Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate.

In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $130,000-$160,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
