Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team. Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, guided by the policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Care Center, and in collaboration with the physicians and other clinical staff in the Cardiology Clinic, the Clinical Nurse 2 is responsible for providing safe, efficient nursing care to patients in the UCSF Mission Bay outpatient Cardiology practice, supporting the Center for Prevention of Heart and Vascular Disease. Triage patients and responds appropriately according to protocol and nursing assessment.The Clinical Nurse 2 utilizes the nursing process (Assessment, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation) to provide safe and therapeutic clinical care. The Clinical Nurse 2 also provides clinical support to Providers and participates as part of the health care team to assure coordination and continuity of patient care, and interdisciplinary collaboration. S/he delivers direct patient care to a variety of patient populations. All components of nursing care will be individualized to meet the patient's physiological and psychosocial development. The Clinical Nurse 2 possesses the skills necessary to provide expert comprehensive care coordination for this clinically complex patient population. The Clinical Nurse 2 will play a critical role in the patient experience including optimizing clinic flow, providing in and outreach to patients and working collaboratively with the team to create a patient centered environment. Involves evidence-based nursing and practice in Cardiology with an emphasis on prevention and care of heart and vascular diseases and the cardiovascular patient populations in ambulatory settings. The Clinical Nurse is responsible for daily clinical operations and The Clinical Nurse 2 consistently projects a professional and courteous demeanor, helps establish and maintain the highest service standards for the practice and complies with the Medical Center House and Telephone Standards. This employee will Responsible for maintaining the knowledge and abilities essential to the performance of stated behaviors. Carries out legal responsibilities within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act. Accountable to the NURSE SVC SUPV 2 for overall work performance. Required Qualifications:
