Type of Opportunity: Full time FTE: 1.00 Job Exempt: No Work Shift: 10 Hour Days (United States of America)

Responsibilities:

  • Perform Advanced Vascular Examinations - Independently conduct complex arterial and venous studies, applying advanced scanning techniques and expert judgment to determine when additional imaging is required.

  • Identify and Document Abnormalities - Recognize, evaluate, and thoroughly document vascular abnormalities or anomalies, ensuring complete and accurate diagnostic information.

  • Apply Expert Clinical Knowledge - Utilize advanced knowledge of vascular anatomy, pathophysiology, and ultrasound principles; demonstrate strong criticalthinking skills to analyze findings and resolve issues during examinations.

  • Perform Routine and Specialized Procedures - Complete all routine inpatient and outpatient vascular exams and assist with OR cases as needed.

  • Ensure Accurate Clinical Documentation - Enter exam charges accurately in the EHR and initiate/assign preliminary reports in PACS.

  • Maintain Patient Safety and Communication - Prepare exam rooms and equipment according to infectioncontrol and safety protocols; communicate clearly and appropriately with patients based on their level of understanding.

  • Collaborate and Support Clinical Teams - Maintain timely communication with physicians and nursing units regarding results; function as a cooperative team member to meet daily workflow needs.

  • Participate in Professional Development - Advance clinical practice through seminars, workshops, and publications; maintain all hospital, departmental, and specialty competencies.

  • Contribute to Lab Operations - Serve on vascular lab committees, support compliance with Joint Commission regulations, and keep supervisors informed of operational needs or issues.

  • Mentor and Support Staff - Participate in candidate interviews; train and mentor new staff and students under the direction of the lead sonographer or supervisor.

  • Participate in Call and Research - Take part in monthly call rotations and contribute to vascular lab research protocols when applicable.

  • Perform Additional Duties - Carry out other responsibilities as assigned to support the overall function of the vascular lab.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education
  • High School Diploma/GED - required.

  • Allied Health Training - completion of a twoyear accredited program in Ultrasound Technology or a bachelor's degree in a health science field (cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, nursing).

  • General/Vascular Ultrasound Program - graduation from an accredited program preferred.

Required Experience
  • Clinical Ultrasound Experience - 2+ years inpatient or outpatient experience in vascular or general ultrasound.

  • Competency Progression - demonstrated advancement through strong clinical competencies or natural role progression.

Licensure
  • NMRTT Licensure - active New Mexico Medical Imaging & Radiation Therapy Program license required.

Certifications
  • BLS Certification - current Basic Life Support certification required.

  • ARDMS/CCI Credential - ARDMS (RVT) or CCI (RVS) required.

  • Registry Completion - candidates credentialed only in General Ultrasound must obtain ARDMS (RVT) or CCI (RVS) within one year of hire.
