About This Role

The Tim Taylor Department of Chemical Engineering is seeking a Fellow (Post Doc Res) to join Dr. Edgar's research team.

This position involves researching the crystal growth of wide energy band gap semiconductors from molten metal solutions. The project will involve conducting experiments to determine the optimal metal solvents and their compositions that produce large crystals with specific electronic and optical properties. Subsequently, the crystals will be characterized to determine their morphologies, composition, and structural qualities. The post-doc must be able to write papers for publication that describe how the experiments were conducted, the conclusions drawn, and their implication for developing technologies.

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.


What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • PhD in engineering, material science, chemistry, or physics. The degree requirement is necessary to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Ability to design, implement, and conduct experiments that will reveal useful information
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and with collaborators
  • Experience with crystal growth
  • Experience with material characterization
  • Ability to learn quickly
