Transmission & Driveline Design Engineer (Development & Validation)

We are seeking a Transmission & Driveline Design Engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of advanced driveline systems and components. This role plays a critical part in delivering high-performance, reliable solutions across automotive programs-from concept through production.

You will work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams to optimize designs, resolve technical challenges, and drive innovation across transmission and driveline systems.

Key Responsibilities



  • Lead the design and development of transmission and driveline systems, including gearsets, torque converters, axles, differentials, and transfer cases
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including CAE, NVH, durability, vehicle dynamics, packaging, and manufacturing
  • Develop and execute Design Verification Plans (DVP&R), including testing at component and vehicle level
  • Perform root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methodologies
  • Drive supplier design reviews and approvals
  • Develop and maintain DFMEA and technical specifications (SSTS/TTS)
  • Define system requirements and ensure alignment with suppliers
  • Identify opportunities for design optimization, cost reduction, and improved reliability
  • Prepare and present technical reports and design reviews
  • Stay current with driveline and transmission technologies
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers

Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in automotive engineering
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of driveline systems including transfer cases, disconnects, gear reducers, and actuators
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience working across multiple programs
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis tools (Fishbone, Is/Is Not, 3L5Y, Red X)


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree
  • DFSS green belt certification
  • Demonstrated working level experience in decomposing intended function into requirements.
  • Working experience with in-vehicle problem diagnosis and NVH evaluations.
  • Knowledge of CAE/CFD to collaborate with virtual analysis teams
  • Assembly and computer aided design (NX / CATIA)
  • Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
  • Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R)
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Critical character traits to ensure success: Action Oriented, Dealing with Ambiguity, Customer Focus, Problem Solving
