JOB DETAILS
Department: Pharmacy Administration
FTE: 1.0 (80 hours per pay period)
Workdays: Monday - Friday
Shift(s): Days
Shift Length: 8 hours
Location: Hybrid

Purpose of this position: Responsible for directing and coordinating all pharmacy revenue along with other duties such as operations or systems activities to ensure proper revenue capture. Facilitates the development, implementation, and maintenance of systems that promote desirable outcomes. Maintains high standards within the department and translates pharmacy policies and procedures into daily operation in all pharmacy areas in accordance with state and federal law, Board of Pharmacy, Joint Commission, and Department of Health regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages the pharmacy billing/revenue process in conjunction with health care payers, Finance, Information Services, and other departments within the organization and with external partners
  • Oversees pharmacy operations and manages direct reports in assigned areas, including prior authorization group, patient assistance program, Epic billing analysts, and retail pharmacy analysts
  • Researches and responds to questions from departments throughout the organization related to pharmacy charging, pricing and billing, and documentation requirements
  • Serves as a liaison between pharmacy revenue enhancement team, clinical (inpatient and ambulatory), operational, and other staff to develop and maintain positive, productive working relationships
  • Collects, analyzes, interprets, and presents data to hospital management, revenue cycle team, and financial staff to ensure accuracy of claims paid, analyze trends, offer accounting assistance, and optimize pharmacy department financial performance
  • Advises health system ambulatory clinics on their utilization and documentation and recommends changes for formulary optimization, as appropriate
  • Along with Pharmacy System Director, provide leadership and oversight of the 340B drug discount program and 340B team
  • Advises department leadership on the planning and execution of strategic plan and growth strategies, including expansion of services, entry into new markets, business planning to grow non-subsidized growth, and recruitment of staff for new business
  • Assists in the preparation of a complete business plan using concepts developed through best practice research and analysis of pharmacy's strengths and capabilities
  • Manages pharmacy financial information and reporting related all areas of pharmacy
  • Assists with employee pharmacy benefit determination by managing pharmacy financial information and reporting
  • Maintains contracting and licensure data for all pharmacies for PBM contracting and compliance
  • Works in collaboration with Pharmacy System Director, informatics, and department leadership on data requests and audits
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Licensed pharmacist in the state of MN
  • 4 years' pharmacist experience with at least 2 years' experience with pharmacy revenue management, including experience with pharmacy information system management
  • 2 years' previous people management experience OR

  • An approved equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of an ASHP-approved residency in Informatics or Administration is highly preferred
  • Completion of 340B ACE Program
  • Advanced degree in Informatics, Business, Finance, or Health System Pharmacy Administration.

Knowledge/ Skills/Abilities:

  • Flexibility to adapt to changes/challenges in organizational strategy, priorities, or direction and overcome resistance to change
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate and negotiate with people at all levels
  • Strong analytical and PC skills

License/Certifications:

  • Possession of a valid license to practice pharmacy in the State of Minnesota as a pharmacist
