What is the opportunity?

The Payment Product Development Director will lead end-to-end product development for RBC Capital Markets' cash management and payment solutions. You will establish product vision, strategy, and roadmap while collaborating across engineering, operations, sales, legal, compliance, risk, and strategic partners to deliver innovative, best-in-class payment capabilities. Operating within an agile framework, you will drive product evolution from conception through launch and optimization.

What will you do?

  • You will lead the vision and roadmap for cash management payment products including ACH, Fedwire, and other payment rails, ensuring alignment with RBC's strategic objectives.
  • You will own payment product development in an agile environment, translating strategy into prioritized features and user stories while managing backlog refinement and delivery cadence.
  • Working closely with the Design team, you will establish product service design blueprints guided by a north star approach that balances innovation with user needs.
  • You will coordinate across functional teams to ensure seamless product development and launch execution while establishing appropriate controls and validating compliance with RBC guidelines.
  • You will lead product rollouts by developing training materials and supporting adoption across Operations, Client Services, Sales, and related functions.
  • Additionally, you will assess emerging technologies and market trends to inform product strategy and competitive positioning.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • You will have 20+ years of experience in financial services with deep expertise in cash management or transaction banking, combined with 15+ years of specialized knowledge in payment products, wire processing operations, and payment rails.
  • You will bring 7+ years of hands-on experience in agile product ownership, including proficiency in creating user stories, backlog refinement, and sprint execution.
  • Technical competencies include expertise in ISO and MT/MX payment standards; working knowledge of digital channels (host-to-host, APIs, SWIFT, and TMS/ERP integration); and familiarity with payment product pricing strategies.
  • You will possess a solid understanding of emerging technologies and current industry trends, combined with working knowledge of legal and compliance obligations in payments. JIRA fluency and the ability to produce business process maps are essential.

Nice-to-have

  • You will be a collaborative team player who works effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, comfortable navigating ambiguity and rapid change with a startup mentality.
  • You will show initiative, drive tasks to completion with minimal guidance, and embody a "can do" attitude.
  • CTP certification is preferred but not required.
  • Beyond technical skills, you will demonstrate a client-centric mindset in product design, strong organizational abilities, and excellent oral and written communication skills.

What's in it for you?

We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. • A comprehensive Total Rewards Program include competitive compensation and flexible benefits, such as 401(k) program with company-matching contributions, health, dental, vision, life, disability insurance, and paid-time off.
  • Leaders who support your development through coaching and managing opportunities.
  • Ability to make a difference and lasting impact.
  • Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team.
  • Opportunities to do challenging work.
  • Opportunities to build close relationships with clients.

The expected salary range for this particular position is $200,000-$250,000 depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.
